If she’s potentially gearing up for a custody fight, she might well be recruiting Swift as a character witness.

Topher Grace didn’t get arrested for DV.

I don’t disagree, but I think the WGA Comms team could be winning the PR wars more strongly. So it’s not that they could or couldn’t make those deals. It’s that slinging mud at Drew Barrymore is a less effective public negotiation tactic than just pointing out what the solutions are.

I’m going to hope two things are true instead of just one:

She was arrested on suspicion of DV. I don’t know that it was on camera or if there was another time when she was filmed.

Emma Roberts has a reputation for being like this on set so yeah, it probably did.

role of a maniac boss with some kind of vague Catholic streak and a god complex

To be clear, I’m also not trying to say Disney isn’t in the wrong here.

I’m saying that they could frame the conversation that way.

Is there actually any way for Disney to just pick up the existing contract that wasn’t with them?

Okay, I think you missed my point, though.

I’m wondering why the WGA isn’t highlighting the deals that could be made to keep these shows on as opposed to just wanting them off. We know AMC got an interim agreement, for example. If the WGA framed it as “Hey, Disney could cover Dancing with the Stars and its one writer by just signing this deal that does x, y,

I assume the wrap arounds and intros to segments.

Yep!

I do think it’s weird that the loopholes talk shows are afforded aren’t being more broadly discussed.

This is true of the on-air talent - talk show hosts, game show hosts, soap actors and newsreaders belong to the SAG-AFTRA Netcode Contract. That contract doesn’t expire until next year and they have all been told that they need to show up for work if told to do so.

The part where he seemingly refused to let her out of the contract is the bigger issue. If he had no real idea for Season 11 and no real use for her, he could have let her out of the first position contract so she could take the Marvel job.

These instances all come after he had already played that card to get out of entertainment jail for that time he dressed up as Osama bin Laden. Pretty sure he used all his addiction freewill from that time.

No, they ran out of those episodes. Soaps are 100% filming with scabs. They ran out of episodes back in July. Now, I believe all of their WGA writers are guaranteed their jobs back post-strike, but they are still actively filming:

It is kind of weird how silent people are on the fact that so many talk shows are non-union. Or even about the fact that soap operas are literally filming with scab writers because the actors are on the Netcode contract.
