Matthew McConaughey, Letitia Wright and Evangeline Lilly are all allegedly unvaxxed and have major roles coming up (or already released).
There were a lot of actors who fell into this “I’m not going to get vaxxed so I can’t work pool” and the reality is that some handled it with grace and humility and are back to work now and others burned all their bridges.
Her baby daddy is Shooter Jennings, Waylon Jennings’s son, who I assume has money from his own fairly prolific music/producing career and inherited from his father. He’s married to someone else now, but I believe they were on good terms.
The mandate was also only in effect for about a year for the film industry so it seems hard to believe that’s the only reason she was broke.
The Covid vaccine mandate was in effect for about a year. It is no longer an industry requirement.
I mean members of the WGA also stated it. I’ve quoted them in multiple places. You cannot just choose to strike because another union is on strike.
It would, but his contract also doesn’t allow him to strike. His statement - like Drew Barrymore’s - made it seem like a unilateral decision, but the networks can absolutely require talk show hosts to return. If it’s anything like last time, it would involve everyone, but John Oliver who most believe was not required…
Also, any person who has been part of a multi-union industry also knows that unless your contract is the one that is striking, you have to go back to work. The networks absolutely can force talk show hosts back. The reason they aren’t is because there are no actors to interview and they’re using it to save money on…
All of the Late Night hosts did this last time.
It wasn’t the case the last time either. Only Letterman had a deal. The others went on air without writers.
No, they did not.
There are reports that the big streamers and the biggest studios are the holdouts on real negotiation because of the residuals from streaming. That’s why Netflix has such a big stake in that part of the argument because they’d likely pay the most. However, we already know “paying the most” still means less than 1% of…
Yep! All of the late night hosts were required to go back. Likely the only reason the networks aren’t pulling that trigger is that there are also no actors to interview. David Letterman was the exception in that he made an interim deal with the WGA and was allowed to use writers.
All of the daytime hosts are going back now so the heat will be off of her now that it’s everyone.
Yes. Any on air talent covered under Netcode contract would be considered in breach of their contract if they do not show up for work.
A totally valid point.
Her statement was much longer than one phrase.
I think there are probably more alternatives than *just* dividing by gender. I would prefer more awards than less while also recognizing that it’s hard to know exactly what would happen if the Oscars went gender neutral
Those comments are not accurate. There was no loophole. On air talent for talk shows are represented by the Netcode SAG-AFTRA contract and studios can require them to return to work.
