I think James Gunn was put in a pretty uncomfortable position where WB did a terrible job with both talent and the public just clearly stating that the existing talent was done and then Gunn ended up looking like a liar because he had to play games in public.

I think “young Superman” to most implies Smallville/Superman Begins. I don’t think Gunn ever did say that.

Yes, but what I’m saying is if you read the full Daily Memphian interview Sean Tuohy says that they got “half of Lewis’s royalties” which would include the $350k - meaning the money is being given to them by Lewis, not by a deal in the Tuohy name. It’s the next sentence he said in that interview which isn’t being

There’s a glut of content to keep you busy at any given time. So even if it’s not the weekend of a release, you have far more to choose from to watch, making it easier to wait 45 days for something to hit PVOD if it really matters to you.

The special district also ensures that Disney takes care of all necessities in that district. I don’t think the people of Florida want to be taxed higher to support the operation which will ultimately happen if the district is dissolved.

It’s not petty to want to ensure that if businesses are considered people according the SCOTUS that precedent shouldn’t only apply to right wing orgs not wanting to offer health care. Otherwise, there is no real hope of changing bigoted laws.

I understand that in the grand scheme of things, Disney potentially being screwed over on taxes isn’t a priority for most of us, but can we not call a politician literally using his power to punish companies for speaking out about their values is kind of a big deal and not a road we want to go down.

I don’t see Whoopi Goldberg giving a sh*t about Sage Steele though...

I’m more than a little confused by how she backed up and looked at her at the same time and apparently then tried to tackle her while being 85 and 5'5" tall...

Tuohy seemed to suggest that those are Lewis’s royalties that he is sharing rather than a deal existing with the Tuohy’s. Lewis also said Oher is refusing the royalties.

Right, but I don’t remember a lot of people being like “Wait, Aurora isn’t beat for beat how she was in the original? She’s being given more agency and a relationship with Maleficent?” It’s possible I just wasn’t paying attention, but it seemed far more of a shrug.

It allows them to create a new timeline for any of the plot points that are Disney-specific that are replicated within the movie - that does include costuming and character likeness. It’s considered an artificial way to extend copyright on the old properties.

I’m not disagreeing that its a semantics game, but the person above was highlighting a difference between a “remake” and an “adaptation.” So semantically, that seems to matter to people and Disney seems to be suggesting the latter.

Does Disney call them remakes?

If anyone thinks Walt Disney would have opposed to a cash grab probably doesn’t know that much bout Walt Disney. He would also be pleased about what this all means for their copyright.

There’s also existing precedent from the Brandon Lee shooting that says he should not be found liable.

Baldwin was also doing a job where he was supposed to listen to others who were supposed to check the gun.

That would actually be a violation of set rules and union rules - Baldwin is not supposed to check the gun. The armorer is supposed to ensure that the gun is safe for use and then no one else is meant to handle it. So no, it was not covered. The opposite was.

I know reboots feast on nostalgia, but how nice would it be to just watch Carrie meet someone new. Am I the only one who wants that? The relationship didn’t end well, but I enjoyed watching her have a relationship with Petrovsky and not quite knowing what the beats would be and not quite knowing if he was cool or a

Narratively, it was also an actual opportunity to redeem Che. If it had seemed like she was about to trash Miranda and instead has some amusing epiphany about her own awful behavior, it would have worked well.
