I look forward to him outlining what the alternative was other than letting studios own your image forever while keeping your residuals to themselves. Because it’s not like there weren’t months of negotiations and the studios basically saying “nope.”

I think it’s unlikely that she’s his ex-wife’s friend at all just because they socialized while the two of them were working together. The idea that Grande was a scheming friend who somehow pulled the wool over Lilly Jay’s eyes is the part of the narrative I’m not buying and wouldn’t exist if this wasn’t Ariana Grande.

The part that you’re ignoring though is that this narrative hinges on Ariana Grande seducing Ethan Slater and making a move on him. In every version of this story, the assumption is that she *must* have come on to him. She *must* have encouraged him to cheat on his wife. For all we know, Ethan Slater could have said

They want to work for the studios who signed interim agreements agreeing to all of the demands the union is making. Those are the ones who got waivers.

I understand it more with the prestige pictures. I do think that press and making the rounds is a big factor in For Your Consideration campaigns so I can understand these conversations about The Color Purple and Dune, but Kraven seems like a surprise.

That makes total sense. When I saw the release date, I honestly thought they must have been working on them simultaneously even if they still were tweaking. Definitely glad they are bumping it for everyone involved.

I have no special love for Arianna Grande. But by all accounts, her marriage was ending. She was single. Even if she threw herself at Ethan Slater unless we’re going to suggest she assaulted him and forced him to have a relationship/sex with her, he chose to start an affair with her. He chose to file for divorce. He

Hearing that Beyond was expected in 2024 made me assume that it was close to finished already so I’m assuming this means that is not the case.

The reporting and the comments are being very clear that Grande is a seductress who broke up the marriage. That was more about the bigger narrative, not just what Jay said. Ethan Slater filed for divorce, not Lilly Jay.

I think her best bet would be to not have access to her social media right now, not least of all because there is a kid involved and a likely messy divorce/custody issue. The more she puts out publicly the less good it will be for her.

I do agree that no comment is great. I also firmly think when you are going through something like this - get yourself locked out of social media ASAP even if you’re not famous. You will post something that causes you more pain long-term.

Sure, I said as much above, but if she was already split from her husband, it’s not her job to talk Ethan Slater out of deciding to end his.

Wow, that’s really where we are now AV Club, huh? You needed to find an excuse to slag off Meghan and the MCU in the last paragraph even though the latter has literally nothing to do with it?

Yep, men are responsible for themselves in 2023.

Maybe she does have a type. Maybe Ethan Slater liked someone he felt was above his league flirting to him. But Ethan Slater is responsible for Ethan Slater’s decisions. Ariana Grande didn’t make him do anything.

Or men that want out of their marriages see someone who is available and go for it. Men are responsible for their own actions in 2023.

No, it’s conveniently the part where I asked you to apologize for spelling my name wrong and assuming my gender. Cool that that’s the part you conveniently keep missing when you choose to be patronizing.

So you’re not shouting at me, but you’re hostile to me. Got it. Can’t believe I was confused by that.

I’m not trying to burn you, bestie. I’m just honestly shocked that you think it’s rude for someone to reply to a comment in a thread or that it’s normal to reply to that person with a ton of quotes referencing someone else. It makes me think you don’t know how to talk to two people at once.

There you go. Then you should make it clear in the future when you insert yourself into someone else’s conversation that you are not addressing the subject matter of the conversation. That will make things easier for everyone.
