Sorry for the super-late response — I only have one computer that remembers my Kinja login, and I was away from it for three months.

Most of the exercises there are good, but there’s very little evidence that adults can learn to develop perfect pitch. Basically what the perfect pitch exercise is is really an exercise in pitch memory (combined with an exercise in intervals — you identify one pitch correctly and then probably use that information to

My bad for imprecise language. By “just”, I meant in February.

I figure if I can get that much fur off him from just a quick brushing, I have the right to humiliate him online.

I really need to know the answer to this. We just adopted two cats from the Humane Society (Winston and Pickles) and both of them shed more than any other cat I have ever had. Luckily it means I can do this with Pickles, but I still need help keeping up with them.

Sephora is also great about returns. You can buy something online and exchange it in store, too, if it’s not right. I bought the wrong color concealer online and was able to exchange it in a store while on a business trip months later because I didn’t have a store near me.

That worked perfectly! Thank you!

This is a seriously dumb question, but how do I see how much credit I have for accepting the slower shipping rate in exchange for $1 credit for music, etc.? I can NOT figure out how to see how much I have to use!

No idea — it was totally out of the blue, and I was lucky I’d kept all of the documentation. Of course, they also charged me interest for the four years, too!

I got audited by the state of Oregon about four years after I moved out of the state. They didn’t like that I had written off money I’d paid to a graduate student out of pocket to help me with a research project and demanded proof of the expense. Luckily I had saved almost all of his timesheets so I was able to

There’s a review that says that the latest version has ads. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Glad someone else recommended this so I don't have to go through the hassle of finding a picture. I love this stuff.

Advisors also sometimes tell students to try to test out of classes they shouldn't (read: can't) actually test out of, whether it's because there's no such mechanism to do so or because the student doesn't actually have the knowledge/ability required to test out of the class.

I can live with third place. I'm pretending it's like a Letterman Top 10 list, because #3 was always actually the funniest one on the list. ;)

I teach a large required freshman class in my discipline, so I see a lot of incoming students — some of whom know they have a diagnosis but haven't visited the Disability Services office yet (or don't want to because they don't want the "stigma" associated with it), and some of whom have just never been challenged to

You can "buy" them via your account on a computer, and they will then be available for you when you open the tablet and log into your Amazon account from there.

That must be it. I'm sure the fact that I was knowledgable about music, both popular and classical, didn't help me get the job at all. Also, both of my managers at the record store were straight women. But it's a good theory; thanks for doing essentially the same thing as the Boy Scouts I was accosted by and reducing

He's not the first, and he won't be the last.

If only the Boy Scouts had encountered that version of Chuck E. Cheese. Such poetic justice.
