Agreed with the first point entirely. Traffic is still pretty objectively bad. It’s not in the top 10 (that was a question at trivia a few weeks ago) but it’s in the mix. The infrastructure has just never been able to get caught up.

They weren’t operating for a while, but now they’re back.
Oh man, I am feeling so nostalgic with all these amazing recommendations. I kind of dig East Austin as it’s where a lot of my friends live. I stayed at a fun hotel there my last visit called the Heywood that fit my preferred aesthetic of staying in very neighborhood-y type places. The Cenote down the street had some…
I feel that way about the Tex-Mex too. And now I’m so hungry.
I feel like everyone loves Chuy’s. It’s like it’s mandated or something. So strange. (I also reluctantly love Chuy’s.)
This is all on point. I resisted watching because I’m tired of shows celebrating assholes and I didn’t want another one. But it’s pretty clear from the beginning that it’s not that at all—you’re going on a journey with this woman that’s doing the best she can with some pretty heavy baggage. It encourages so much…
I support pretty much any celebration of Sealab 2021
My standard is the black happy birthday song and it could be yours too. Happy early MLK Day folks!
The complicated thing about art is that you create something powerful that becomes a part of our musical and pop culture legacy, but then concede control over its mutations and appropriations. Not that he can’t have an opinion about it as it relates to the spirit of his intentions—we have this conversation all the…
On her birthday I will call my dad and my sister, as I’ve done with each of my mom’s birthdays since she died in 2013, and maybe we’ll talk about her.
The Wire was the kaiju of shows when it came to talent. Shout-out to the “still good but not as good as season 4" staff Clark Johnson who stays employed behind the scenes and his co-worker Tom McCarthy who wins Oscars and stuff.
It’s not even a particularly good legal question from what I can tell, although he can knock himself out trying it. The statute isn’t particularly ambiguous about the context of the threat. And this is obviously a pretty terrible threat.
Nowhere did I say that Kerrigan wasn’t a good athlete. I said she was insufferable, which, to me, she was. And I didn’t find her nearly as entertaining as her contemporaries.
That’s pretty much what she’s doing according the the 30 for 30 I watched a couple of weeks ago.
I know I’m cold-sensitive so I dress accordingly and have appropriate accessories—arm warmers, heavy scarf over sweater over regular clothes, and something covering my neck and ears. I also kept a heating pad and a cloak handy. My office-mate ran the opposite and she had a fan. The standard was that if we’re both…
Space heaters blew fuses in one of my old office buildings, so I stay away from those.
I wouldn’t put Bezos on the level of Gates or Buffet who are major philanthropic players. I don’t mean that to downplay his contributions, only that the commitment level is very different.
My thing is that if there are such safety risks, then show your work. I want a detailed justification for why this is necessary, including examples. Facilities are so fickle anyway about what they’ll allow, but this kind of restrictive standardization is crazy.
I haven’t read the actual opinion, just the summary, but it sounds like it’ll only be another slim chance to reopen the case to make whatever arguments can be made to challenge the verdict. I’m fine with that, though, especially in capital cases. If the state is going to kill someone, they should be sure they’re doing…
It’s worse in that they acknowledge that it was messed up but hide behind precedent to justify not doing anything about it.
