That’s a really good book too. I can see that translating well (especially with the right folks behind it).

Nah. But I will say that it’s most accurately an explanation for subjectivity. People claiming to have superior taste just end up having the same sensibilities as everyone else, often with the same reading lists as your average well-read person.

The Book of Phoenix is great too. It’s probably my favorite of hers (okay, after Akata Witch).

Co-sign.

Yes! And I adored the Annals of the Western Shore even more than Earthsea. All good stuff.

It was on Fox (remembered because I watched it on Sling and that doesn’t have CBS).

I couldn’t get into Rome, but I dig Spartacus. Black Sails is fantastic too.

I read a lot too and assertions of quality via classification are essentially meaningless. Everything is pretty much genre and it’s all pretty much Sturgeon’s Law.

K. Get some rest. I’m sure you’re tired from all those cognitive leaps you’re making.

There are a lot of damn characters on this show.

And if residents in the area wanna get mad, they can direct it at the people who spoiled it for everybody by being entitled asshats.

Yeah, probably that and letting their dogs run around off leash, etc. I think the interlopers treat it like a public park, which it isn’t since it’s primary purpose is as a space for Howard folks. I like dogs, but I hate when dog owners act like dogs can be and do anything they want in public spaces.

I don’t know, I’ve seen plenty of ink spilled about tipping rules. But it’s a personal thing too. I don’t routinely tip everyone that folks suggest you should. I don’t worry too much about it and do my best to compensate appropriately. But I know it can cause some anxiety.

I’m sure this dude is the first one to complain during Howard homecoming.

It’s pretty accessible campus with multiple entrances/exits. And I don’t even think that’s what people there are asking for anyway. It seems they’re fine with it being an urban campus, but folks just need to be respectful. Good luck with that, I guess.

Doing things as“our community” in the case of that dude I’m sure means ‘y’all need to just hush and let me do what I want.’ I feel like folks like that only talk about working with the community when they want validation for doing something they know makes them look like jerks.

I’ve worked in hotels and bell staff are definitely valuable. They wear lots of hats and do the basic things you expect from a hotel. A lot of it is essentially stuff that makes them an extension of the front desk staff (and other departments) who can’t leave their post. Even just handling luggage for large parties is

I took that to mean a door to door shuttle.

That doesn’t sound simple at all...

There are certainly more compelling reasons why people should always carry cash on them. I guess folks have to figure out what’s worth the effort of it. The times it’s come up for me have been situations that only happen periodically but remind me that it’s nice to carry cash.
