The lack of proper vetting for these nominees is unreal. I didn’t need to see this after reading about how this dude’s nomination is making the other Alabama nominee (a black judge) move to make way for him:

It’s an interesting question for sure. It seems there’d be that aspect of how different demographics engage and are engaged with in determining how widely those social circles reach.
Compass seems to have some of the most obnoxious folks working there. I do not know how they accomplish that across locations. I’ve been meaning to try La Colombe. I need to get on that.
I’m not sure where the line is for Bloomingdale and Eckington (or Eckington and Edgewood). I just know I get there by going through Eckington.
Such good stuff. I love learning new things about my city. This is all solid. Well, except that one about Compass Coffee who I’m mad at. I’ll also plug A Baked Joint/Baked and Wired and Qualia.

Menomale is so, so, so tasty (rivaled only by Bacio in Eckington).
I don’t think there’s a better or worse in terms of public transit, only what works best for people. Many people who have cars, like to drive, and have moderate commutes still prefer to take public transit because of the comfort and convenience.

The Hill has some flexibility in getting to IAD for sure. I’ve usually lived in upper NW or NE so it’s six in one hand, half a dozen in the other as my dad says. Now being so close to Union Station and the beltway, BWI is a no brainer. But when I lived in NoVa briefly, IAD worked well.
This is fantastic, thank you! I love so many of these mentions: Concrete Park, Karen Lord, BlerDCon, etc. And now I need to binge on a whole bunch of other.
Basically everything by Nnedi Okorafor! I like Book of Phoenix even better, which felt so cathartic. But Akata Witch is ace.
I think that’s fine, though, which is why lots of people who were born and raised here adopted the term. It’s descriptive and not cutesy (like NoMa, ugh). Language is progressive like that.
I cannot function at lunchtime without Food Truck Fiesta options.
It’s crazy to me how much people don’t care about the lack of representation for DC residents. It makes me furious just thinking about it.
Solid recs for the Renwick and the AFI Theater. I love those two cd/dvd shops! I haven’t been to the cafeteria at the American Indian Museum in years. So sad that it’s gotten overpriced because it was great.
Thanks, this has a lot of great info!
People always go for White House tickets, but I think the Capitol is the better deal. And they’re easier to get too.
Which museums do you think are worth the price of admission?
People love District Taco here! It’s a pretty bright spot in a city with underwhelming Mexican food. (But I’m from Texas so I try not to judge too harshly.) I do stay away from the breakfast tacos, though. They’re not bad, but not as tasty as some of their other stuff.
