I think it counts. I’m always telling people that. Baltimore is great for kids! Lots of stuff geared towards the young folks. Agreed about the art scene. I really like the museums, especially the Visionary Arts Museum. Another day trip that’s pretty cool is Mount Vernon in VA.

NATIONAL FOREVER!

Plenty of folks call it the DMV, especially folks that used to live here but have since moved to MD or VA. I call DC the city, the District and the region, the DMV.

And don’t take it personally if someone asks you to step aside.

Oh man, that’s crazy! I personally felt so bad because I didn’t mean to be disruptive. But at least people understood it was an accident.

So true about the zoo. And it’s a mediocre zoo at that.

DC is a great place to visit. I’ve lived here off and on for the last 25 years and it never gets boring. So many tips!

Yes! I suggest seeing it twice: watch from the far right on the steps to see the soldier inspection. Then come back and watch from the middle on the steps to see the actual guard switch. From that vantage point, I saw a guard get rejected for not having a close enough shave.

Forget extensive, just basic would have been an improvement over this dude. Sole factor? The whole point is that his lack of experience coupled with an unqualified rating, coupled with his inappropriate temperament all point toward his being a terrible candidate.

Brett Talley is the latest and lowest blow of this Republican power grab for the courts and its disgusting. In theory, I don’t mind as much as others about his age or the fact that he hasn’t practiced. But the fact that he’s so woefully unqualified and in no way compensates for these shortcomings is ridiculous and a

So true. I first saw her in The Visitor, which is a movie I love. And all I can do is SMH at what a disservice The Walking Dead does to her.

Seems an irrelevant question to apply to this scenario.

Excellent points. Absolutely.

I don’t think the issue has to be a complicated one. Developing creative, diverse settings is a skill that’s inherent to world building. Like any other aspect of improving the craft, the solution is to practice, heed criticism, and get better. People will get it wrong and make missteps, potentially in really bad ways.

What this argument misses is that often “compelling” is code for familiar or personally relatable. And I’m fine with people being drawn to content for that reason, but it shouldn’t be mistaken as a reflection of technique, execution, objective quality, relevance or anything other than a surrender to a personal status

There’s an assumption that we black people must make a case for our existence in fantasy.

I’ve consumed a lot of commentary about this issue, and the most common advice is to write those characters if it’s important to your story to do so.

That miniseries makes me furious to this day. Team Le Guin on that matter.

But what if that person is in a restaurant and it says that it’s alcoholic or is included in the list of alcoholic beverages on the menu? What if they know beforehand that some drinks may have alcohol? A simple and expected review/recall of that would have play into the situation and that scenario is more what you’re

I guess what complicates things is how that intersects with the responsibility to pursue a basic level of knowledge before acting. Does failure to do that mitigate the moral responsibility on the other end? It’s an interesting question.
