omg. the sound. every establishing shot in this movie was like the drop of an EDM song. 

in what world is Garfield’s Spider-Man more heroic than Holland’s? was it the fact that his origin is based in vengeance rather than a sense of responsibility? or the fact that the one promise he’s asked to uphold by Captain Stacey is immediately broken, eventually leading to Gwen’s death? maybe it’s the mortal fear…

my take is that Far From Home is Spider-Man: Endgame in the sense that Endgame was Avengers: Back to the Future II. i.e. we’re going to be revisiting the old movies in this one, which while not being “peak cinema” was a nice variation on the “regular Marvel formula”.

i recently watch Back to School (with gratuitous boobies) for the first time, and there was a lot of Rodney Dangerfield hitting on coeds that made me a little uncomfortable. but i think the overall premise could still work today as a good Boomers meet Zoomers comedy.

i’ve noticed since visiting the mall in the pandemic era, Crocs have had prominent displays in all shoe stores. never noticed them before. made me wonder if Crocs were back, and i guess they are.

if you’re planning to watch this at home, make sure that you watch it in a dark room with good sound and no distractions (keep your phone away, put the kids to bed, etc.) this one is more about atmosphere than any active scare, so if you’re not immersed, i feel like it won’t be able to do what it’s meant to do. though…
