can someone explain what was so anti-trans about Chappelle’s special? my takeaway was that trans people are trans people, assholes are assholes, a lot of assholes are using trans arguments as a guise for their assholery. maybe i just didn’t get it.

not all movies are made the same. i’d wager there was way more flexibility making the first Star Wars versus the fourth Batman. a production like Batman and Robin starts with licensing deals in place, and a lot of money already spoken for. people are going to want exactly what they ordered, even if its crap.

Batman Forever dialed up the camp and kid-pandering a little, and it outperformed Batman Returns, so i could understand the studio exec’s logic here for the next one.

i believe in the cases of these scheduled CG spectacles, the CG work can get started before the script. i wouldn’t be surprised if the CG work started in earnest shortly after Mahershala Ali was cast.
