What you are saying is that the left lane is the mandatory break the law (go faster than the speed limit) lane.

Re-read what wrote first.

This article is utter garbage. You blame law abiding drivers for the reckless behavior of people speeding and weaving in and out of traffic breaking the law? How about we start blaming the real issue, the morons who are SPEEDING AND WEAVING IN AND OUT OF TRAFFIC! Go the speed limit and all these “issues” vanish and

Have you ever tried to pass a double long before? also the 10km was an example only.

The left lane is for driving the speed limit the right lane is for driving a bit under the speed limit.

Wrong, they don’t HAVE to do, they want to break the law and go faster than allowed.

I live in Southern California, the freeways here have more than 3 lanes... there is plenty of room for them to pass properly on the left. I’m not camping out in the fast lane, so I’m not moving over.

If you are going at or above the speed limit, you cannot be, legally, classed as ‘slower traffic.’ If there’s no statute in your state, there’s plenty of case law on this. Check WestLaw.

Also worth noting: Getting over “safely” is a judgment call on the part of the driver who would be exiting the left lane. If someone is tailgating and flashing their lights and not leaving an appropriate distance, then I am (in many states) not breaking the law by judging that changing lanes in front of an erratic,

Counterpoint here, I’m only breaking the law in the left lane if I’m not passing traffic in the right lane.

Let me get this straight. The guy blowing a .19 bac, almost sideswiping, tailgating, and ultimately causing a crash is not the bigger asshole here? If he hadn’t driven impatiently in the first place, the truck driver would not have noticed him. The truck driver was only going as slow as he was in the first place

Move to the right, and stop trying to justify your flaccid, passive-aggressive need to be the unofficial traffic cop who clogs up the left lane in a pathetic attempt to force others to abide by your interpretation of the rules of the road.

I’m right there with you Joe. Anything over the posted limit is breaking the law and your lack of planning is not my problem... and all of these people having about “unwritten rules” about it being ok to go 5 or 10 over... it’s unwritten because IT’S NOT THE FUCKING LAW. If it was ok, then the limit would be 5 to 10

Here’s what I do... I can’t afford a $300 speeding ticket, so I only go as fast as the limit. Period.

Please cite the traffic ordinances that say you must yield right of way to someone speeding behind you.

You’re kidding, right? You’re telling me that I’m breaking the law? You, who want to drive 20 mph over the speed limit? Nah, bro. Buy an alarm clock or get a shrink to deal with your anger issues.

Sometimes you can’t without cutting off people in the right-hand lane. I’m not going to put those people at risk people there’s a psychotic with a lead-foot behind me who is working out his anger-management issues on the highway.

Nope. I don’t have to move over for criminals who are driving recklessly. I’m not breaking the law, you are. You’re putting people at risk, not me.
