I enjoyed watching The Last Jedi, specifically because of the iconoclasm and narrative left turns you discuss, but I can’t get over my mindset that none of these new-era Star Wars projects are essential to “Star Wars”.

I was just musing that I wished we could have DST year round, but that it would never ever happen. I didn’t know about this referendum! If it’s indeed enacted, I may seriously consider relocating to California.
...or how Yoshi’s real name is T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas...
...Probably? Netflix, gives you a recap, but even as someone watched, it’s hard for me to retain a real sense of everything that’s gone on before. Yet I’m still able to follow two eps into season 6.
Honorable mention for the Cocktail soundtrack. I played the hell out the cassette as a kid, or at least “Don’t Worry Be Happy,” “Kokomo,” and “Tutti Frutti”. Looking over the tracklist today, it doesn’t appear to have much else to recommend. I also didn’t have much interest in the movie that inspired it at the…
And, it’s gone? EDIT: Nevermind, my browser just decided to crap out. Had to go to Youtube to watch.
Have you checked the ceiling?
A decade of NuWho under Davies and Moffat had trained me to think that the race of their companions will have at most a muted impact on episodes spent in Earth’s terrible past. Systemic racism had either been ignored, handwaved, or ascribed to one or two particularly callous heels. “Human Nature / Family of Blood”…
Here I thought I was just having a bit of a larf with some very light wordplay, but then it spurred you to make a very good suggestion in response! Kudos!
How could you make a sequel to They Live at a time when “Rowdy” Roddy Piper sadly does not?
It’s not my cup of tea. Too dark, too busy, and those chunky crystal columns all make it feel a bit claustrophobic for me. I also prefer the hexagonal versions of the console, with identifiable control knobs and switches, over the rounded, more abstract ones.
Guess I’m the only one here that remembers that Todd’s idea for square marbles that don’t roll were an actual thing in the 8os?
We’ve all met the First Doctor, and we even sort of saw him as a little boy in the episode,“Listen”! ...Except that, bear with me... maybe not?
And we finally got the closing credits, following the after-show. They were shrunk down in the corner while ads played over the new theme.
I live chatted the premier with some viewers across the pond and was disappointed to learn we were experiencing it at the same time for only a short time. Surely 23 and Me paid for enough ad time, they could’ve gotten one of those “Presented without commercial interruption, courtesy of...” deals.
Talk about missing the forest for the trees. Police shootings? Kavanaugh? You’re too busy looking for things that aren’t there (since when has South Park EVER been subtle in its topical references?), and as a result missing the obvious (Stan is in a sling because he was shot last week, so no, the events of “Dead…
Donna Noble is my #1 NuWho companion, but Clara is right up there. Fine, her arc from beginning to end is a bit inconsistent, but Who fans have excused much worse over 55 years. I personally think her story really clicked and became genuinely compelling when she was with Capaldi.
Well, that was the best laugh I’ll have today!
