Bannon.
Bannon.
I love RBG but if she is still on the bench when the next democratic president takes over, she must resign. Love ya RBG, now get out.
Blah blah blah just tell me who has the highest blood pressure, worst cholesterol, and enjoys high-risk hobbies. I choose that guy.
well, the former requirement of a majority of 60+ in the senate did mean that there had to be either compromise or a massively popular single party to appoint a justice. But yeah since that’s gone, it’s all fucked.
There are three equal branches of govt: the president, Congress, and the courts. Republicans have the presidency and Congress and this appointment will give them control of the highest court in the land. Why this is SO VERY TERRIFYING is that court appointments are for life. So there is no election, no referendum, no…
...And it will give them a bump going into the mid-terms.
That is exactly what will happen. And suddenly it’s 1950 again, with the poorest women in the poorest states dying from back-alley abortions.
There’s no way they could enact a Muslim ban. There’s no way they could allow bogus “pregnancy centers” to deceive young women. There’s no way there’s no way there’s no way....
This is not a sarcastic reply. The GOP has all the cards and they don’t care what we say. But they care what corporations say. We have to apply pressure to corporations to speak out on every social issue that is on the horizon. We need to turn our backs on every company that is not a vocal advocate for women’s rights,…
You’re not wrong. But so many people won’t be able to leave. It seems like the ultimate expression of privilege if I leave the country and those suffering have to stay behind and take it.
You’re not alone. I called my D-senator to tell her I support her and that we’re all counting on them and burst into tears on the phone.
I’ve considered it, but that leaves a lot of poor people behind-- not to mention the next few generations who will suffer as a result.
We can’t, the Republicans changed the rules so they only need a simple majority to pass a supreme court justice.
But how? I’m all for that, but the Senate has No Power here. What can be done?
I’ve daydreamed about quitting my job and going into some sort of advocacy work, but I think it might be time for it to become a reality. This country is about to get so much worse and we all have to do more to slow it down and maybe, possibly, by some slim chance, stop it.
Completely and utterly fucked.
It’s the same reason that every pregnant celebrity is apparently “flaunting their belly” when they walk around outside or exist in public in any way.
I know that this was not a metric in this study, but the discrepancy between GDP and treatment of women in the US deserves a lot of scrutiny. The US should be called out and embarrassed for its inability to treat women as equal citizens, despite claiming to be the greatest country in the world.
I’m pretty sure that’s what her style is. Also shiny tile.
YES-- this is a good one.
