“Challenge accepted.” - Mark Zuckerberg

Oh for fuck’s sake.

The pose says “I can’t stop you from taking a shitty photo, but I can stop facial recognition software from fucking up my life, maybe.”

Ah, yes, the Bane pose.

UGH I want to crash my grocery cart into him.

I get it, you hate comic book movies. But Deadpool was legitimately great, and should have gotten nominated for adapted screenplay, makeup, and VFX work at the least.

The Oscars don’t like popular movies? I’m shocked.

So much this. I finally took my daughter to see Hidden Figures a couple of weekends ago. Because she is 13, I now have to pay adult prices for her to go to the movies. Nearly $30 for two people is nothing to sneeze at. And we ate BEFORE we left home, because buying concession would have put the evening at $50 or

This. Going to a movie isn’t cheap anymore. There are no $5 matinees anymore, honestly there are no more matinees period. It’s $14 - $17 a pop for one person not counting overpriced popcorn and snacks.

same. I’m not paying 15 bucks each for anything that will look just as good at home. i only go to the movies if the movie requires the hardware in the theatre to look/sound it’s best. if it was 5-9 bucks a throw, i’d go all the time, like i used to in the 90s!

I’m a blandly handsome middle aged white man who changed the course of history with his great works(and possibly an English accent). Quite frankly, there just weren’t enough films this year that told my story.

I’ll admit: I haven’t seen any of them (although I intend to watch Hidden Figures). The last movie I saw in theaters was Rogue One, and before that it was Mad Max.

The problem is that something like La La Land is rendered pointless when I can just go to Pornhub and watch a 5 minute video of a guy jerking himself off.

People aren’t seeing movies because they’ve become too expensive. In NYC, I pay on average, $15.00 a ticket. More if it’s in 3d or RPX or whatever tacked on nonsense charge. It’s a minimum of $50.00 just to sit down with my wife and kid. I enjoy going to the movies, but many people don’t have the luxury of ponying up

But there’s no accounting for taste, the general audience in America considers Marvel movies to be the pinnacle of cinema at the moment.

Why bother with a theater when they make you wear pants and don’t let you smoke a bowl and pause it to go pee?

I saw a resume once of an Ivy League law student who literally put that her interests were “Oscar winning movies and current events.”

They’re missing out on some good stuff then; Moonlight, La La Land, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, these were all great films.
