The Modern Times brewery has a pretty good vegan menu as well. At least I, a total carnivore, enjoyed it.

So, salt n straw? Please tell me more.

I’ve been corrected on the proper pronunciation of so many place names around Portland that I’m starting to think that it was a big inside joke that got out of control. Like, locals started messing with transplants and tourists by telling them things like Couch is pronounced “Cooch” and now the transplants continue

I thought I was the only one who thought salt & straw was just overrated. The flavor combinations are interesting, but the ice cream itself trends towards mediocre.

Good call. Stumbled upon Great Notion while my wife was looking for some other store in the area and was really impressed. The blueberry muffin was interesting, but the jammy pants was an absolute show stopper.

SakeOne is definitely worth the drive, but it’s nowhere near the first or oldest sake brewery in the US.

The rhythmic hum of the breast pump put me back to sleep many nights, which I’m sure made my wife want to strangle me.

Just to add: Probably worth it to go with REI or a quality brand name here. I once used a similar thing that I found on the cheap, and the straps lasted about two days.

Before kids, I did something similar. Now days, my strategy is to take enough diapers to last the whole trip. That will leave plenty of space in the suitcase for souvenirs and booze on the way home. Getting pretty good at guessing the right number too. Last trip I changed the baby into the last one as we waited for

Neither. Kind of in between the two. Link is not working, but you can get an 8 foot by 18 inch pool that has a soft bottom and semi-rigid sides that is perfect for what you’re talking about.

Minus the kids, this sounds like the last summer I spent in a college town after graduation. Slip n slides - very underrated.

Or you could go Japanese style and do a thorough scrub down and rinse before you soak in the hot clean water.

Why are you wearing sunscreen at the office or if you're going to be inside all day?

On sprays: don't use them at the beach when you are upwind from other people, thanks. The other people will end up breathing in more of the stuff than what actually makes it onto your skin.

DNA repairing sunscreen’ sounds more like an IO9 headline than a Lifehacker one.

That was sarcasm. It’s totally a personal choice. Some people do, and some people don’t. Do what’s right for you. I also don't in any way advocate getting married young.

That was the Cal (I think) basketball coach (who has likely traveled a lot with her child due to the baby’s age and nature of her job). She was traveling with her baby and the father. The mom is white, the dad is black and has the same name as the baby. The baby had a passport but they didn’t have the birth

Yes. Including parents/guardians on a passport would be easier and much more useful in stopping abductions than a birth certificate.

It makes a lot of sense if you look into the origins of the plate lunch. It’s derived from foods that poor plantation workers would eat while the more expensive fruits and sugar the islands were known for were canned and shipped out. Most of the plantation workers were Asian, so rice. Later on Mac salad was added

My favorite breakfast place makes fried rice that includes bacon, ham, spam, Portuguese sausage, and kalua pig. It's a ridiculous meat bomb with a little rice, green onion, and cabbage.
