Tallgrass prairie restoration would be the best option. I’d be happy with a good or better option than the current practices. Just switching to no/reduced tillage operations and cutting back on pesticides for corn and soybeans would be an improvement. The problem with that is trying to convince old farmers to change

Probably get more bang for your buck by just not living somewhere that is so godawful hot that you need an AC. Also, toughen up America. You don’t need an AC when it’s 80 degrees and a heater blasting once it hits 65.

If you live in an area where switchgrass is native, then yes. It’s not just the roots that sequester carbon. Healthy soil is full of microorganisms and macro invertebrates. The stuff is good forage and can be used to make biofuels (all while the roots store carbon). With a couple hundred acres, you’ll likely sequester

It’s because our super consumer, boomer parents got older and lazier in that decade. “I can sweep without having to bend (my obese ass) over and use a dustpan!?!?” They are the generation that grew up with disposable capitalism and had all the disposable income at that time (and most of it today). Let’s also mention

You’re about to have a lot of angry comments from angry anemic vegans.

Once upon a time I though that, but they tend to exaggerate the scale and timeline of the impending global warming doom. I figure by the time proper disaster hits, my kids will be taking care of me. Just started apocalypse training the toddler with Fallout games. Seems to be going well.

The EV idea is great, especially if you have your own solar or wind generator at home. None of the cars mentioned meet my needs though. I use public transit for the most part, but on days I need a car, I need a truck. Why can’t I get an old ranger/S10/Tacoma sized electric truck? Sorry. Just realized I should be

In the US, it’s really all about where you live. I recently moved from a state with virtually none and a 35 mile daily commute to a place where I can walk 10 min and hop on a train or bus. Just encourage people to use it if they have the option. If you don’t have the option, maybe look into carpools, a bike, or EVs.

Ok. Again, I don’t expect him to win. I do think the excessive number of indistinguishable candidates had the potential to split the votes and pave the way for a fringe candidate.

It’s Kentucky, we just assume they’re all drunk on whiskey. Bad decisions are just a part of that life.

No, but with 37 candidates, he’d only need like 8-10% of the votes to bin the nomination.

There are no free rides. Wind and solar have impacts as well. The ecological damage caused by dams is generally overstated by people who don’t like the dams. The biggest impact is to anadromous fish, and those impacts can be mitigated somewhat. Overfishing and habitat decline in the ocean likely have as much or more

You deserve this local, sustainably and ethically raised star.

Tilapia is disgusting. Never eat tilapia.

I disagree. I think we should focus more on condemning the good in favor orbthe perfect no matter how impractical.

I think people tend to overstate how hard an infant can be. Unless they're really colicky or have medical issues, it's just a little sleep deprivation and cleaning up bodily fluids. The real fun starts when they start walking/climbing and gets interesting from there.

The biggest problem with the liberal anti-vaxxers is they tend to be more wealthy and can afford to travel to exotic destinations and pick up diseases that they should be immune to.

As someone who grew up in a place similar to MS and WV, it’s really weird to see this. Anti-vaxxers were always the crazy lefties out in California. It’s like someone flipped a switch when I wasn’t looking. I guess it shouldn’t be too surprising coming from there. Nothing really is anymore. Not since a lifelong,

Will the flat earthers be able to get along with the young earthers though? Because  flat-young-earthers are the last thing we need.

Years ago, I remember hearing girls talk about pockets and wondering why it was a big deal. Then I got married and did my wife’s laundry. Doing the standard pocket check before throwing jeans in the machine I discovered that it would be a stretch to even fit chapstick those tiny useless pockets.
