Uber is problematic in many ways, but I’m just not sure why this is such a big deal: if the driver knows ahead of time that the passenger wants to just stare out the window or look at his/her phone in peace, why should that be so offensive?

There are human beings all around one another in cities, too. If these same human being start dropping dead willy nilly and in tangible numbers all about town, the same picture become egregiously distorted, a social nuisance and a serious hazard.
