I feel like I spent most of my time in Japan trying to shrink myself both physically and verbally. You don’t realize how loud you are as an American until you’re in a country that is so quiet. I was always ducking into corners and pulling my husband along to scrunch up with me while we looked over maps. Bless Japan

It was Jezebel commenters who turned me on to The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl years ago and I have loved her ever since.

I don’t think anyone is taking Klobuchar seriously, which is why she’s hardly getting any attention.

The only articles I recall reading about Klobuchar on Jezebel have been about her abusive treatment of staff. I haven’t seen anyone praising her.

I’d completely forgotten that I started buying black underwear because of this movie and also you are absolutely correct as to their true utilitarian purpose.

If you can find the blood orange orangina upgrade that cocktail. It’s my go-to for mimosas.

I didn’t realize a hobby tournament was a court of law.

*next day not best

I couldn't walk at all the best day, I was so sore. Amazing place!

I’ve been applying to jobs which means I’m getting spam calls multiple times a day, everyday. The call function on my phone now only exists to receive these calls, otherwise no one else contacts my by phone anymore.

I’m very excited to see it, but I’m not paying for CBS All Access.

Anyone else seen Serling’s Twilight Zone-esque Christmas film, Carol for Another Christmas with Peter Sellers? It really moved me.

Oof, I loved her book and the section on Devito and Perlman was the most memorable part. They sound like wonderful people.

Yeah, it’s really frustrating for workers. Especially because it made our job harder. Patrons hated the self checkout for the most part (they are great for privacy, but horrible for parents trying to get through a stack of books while wrangling their kids). I spent more time helping people with self-checkout, which

Streaming services have no contract or promotional rates that they raise to astronomical prices that I have to argue down. There is transparency in the pricing, so I always know what I’m going to pay from month to month and I can cancel and sign up for other service depending on what I want to watch.

Some people just want the ring they wanted but couldn’t afford in the past. The replacement ring is also given with love and optimism and gratitude. I hope that part of a relationship doesn’t end just because time has passed. We change so much as individuals over decades as do couples, so for some I think it’s a

If it’s like libraries where I’ve worked/patronized that installed self-checkout machines, they’re being trained to direct customers to self-service kiosks

When we were living in Japan my husband observed that when men excused themselves to cut through a crowd they would put their hand up to their face, side of the thumb to the nose, and “sumimasen” along. He called it polite-sharking.

No one can out tourist Japanese people. They dress like American tourists from the 90s. It’s the one country where I never worried about looking like a tourist because when they tourist they go hard.

Pranks are dumb. Fun is overrated. Down with fun. Especially in the office.
