Seeing The Matrix and then Crouching Tiger a little over a year later are cinematic memories I won’t ever forget. They were both awe-inspiring when they came out and the special effects they introduced promptly done to death.

This is reality in the new economy. People do depend on these gig jobs for income because they are struggling to find full-time jobs that pay living wages or provide benefits.
I thought it was just the terrifying road I take to get to Trader Joes.
If only people could gaslight our pain away. I guess doctors already do that, or at least attempt to deny our pain away.
I went into the film pretty blind, I don’t remember it being marketed very heavily. It was such a simple film in many ways, but it really stuck with me. It’s definitely in my my top sci-fi list.
Chappie was Wall-E with guns.
I’m both laughing and nodding. Happy Feet was not the film I expected.
I recently just binged The Matrix trilogy and was surprised that it held up better than I expected considering the oversaturation of the film techniques and the icky legacy of the film brought by red pills. I didn’t notice how diverse the casting was when I was younger; it was definitely worth a revisit, though it…
Overpopulation isn’t the problem, inequality in resource distribution is the problem.
I reach a point where I just refer to certain sci-fi films as speculative fiction, Truman Show is one of those.
Somehow I lived through the 90s without ever seeing Total Recall until a few months ago. DAMN, it was REALLY GOOD.
It’s one of the sci-fi films from the last decade that I can’t get out of my head. Ex Machina and Moon are two sleepers that have just stuck with me.
This was almost four years ago, but thank you for the belated congratulations!
The library pays for access to these resources, so it might be “free” for users (beyond tax dollars) but it is paid for. Library digital access is a way for people to support media, even if they don’t have the funds to pay for a subscription on their own.
I’m mystified by those who have deeply internalized the marketing messages from jewelry companies. I know (smart, progressive, feminist, liberal) women who placed certain amounts of important on their rings or who really wanted that romcom engagement moment. I just don’t understand the materialism over the gesture. I…
This is why I would say it’s the gesture. My mom got a diamond for her ring for their 20th anniversary and it was a symbol of how far they’d come and all they’d been through together.
What a great movie. I learned about it from a comment section when I was looking for some 80s scif-fi.
I definitely recommend The One I Love to those who just watched Us.
Don’t be dumb.
As a fellow weird girl, I was always disappointed by the low effort bullying I received. Try harder, mean girls!
