Binged this a month or two ago. S4 was pretty bad, mostly because Dory’s storyline was a dull, unfunny chore. This sounds more promising.
It was a shame because I think season 3 was it's best. But this season looks like a lot of fun, which is the ingredient S4 lacked so I'm hopeful.
Looking forward to this. I can’t say the last season was its best, but I kind of respect the fact that they’re willing to shake things up every season.
I’m so very surprised that they’re doing a 5th season of Search. The drop in quality between seasons 3 and 4 was a kind of remarkable thing to behold. It’s not often that every aspect of a good show suddenly stops working.
Isn’t Spider-Man the top-selling comics character for like 40 years now? His comic and merch sells more than Batman and Superman. Beloved character in popular franchise was seen by a lot of people doesn’t sound like a mystery that needs solving, to me.
“but it is probably fair to point out that people started to get pretty sick of Star Wars after Disney released the last movie”
I’d go higher level even and say people just like going out. Like I don’t like the movie experience myself that much as I can do without audience noise but I used to go all the time just because it was a way to meet up with friends for a few hours.
“there was a time when it seemed like COVID would really kill theaters”
I really don’t think there was. There was talk of it from the same sort of “experts” who need to figure out why a good movie about the most popular character in the most successful film franchise ever (I think?) made a ton of money, but “COVID…
I loved the movie - glad I went and took my son!
Let me list the major reasons here...
To be sure, box office experts are always trying to figure this out, any time anything is a hit. This is how the copycat factories get their intel.
I agree that it doesn’t make sense, and that JK wrote it not understanding that sports need balance (Seekers basically break the logic of the game), but at least give it credit for being an amalgamation of several sports rather than just soccer. And in a world where coming up with an original sport is hard (it seems…
- The realisation that Jamie Foxx could make a really interesting Electro if every other part of that decision making process wasn’t a flaming turd.
- very beloved character
- villains from past iterations of spider-man movies in it
- “rumors” of the spider-men from those past movies being in it
- last movie of the trilogy
- unlike black widow, shang-chi, or eternals, it includes a popular mcu character, dr. strange
- curiosity of the beginning of the multiverse in the…
While I appreciate their support statement and their rules, isn’t the other reason for changing the name that Quidditch is a registered trademark of Warner Bros. and they can’t advertise or expand the league using the original name? I ask because that was mentioned in all the other articles about this today.
Keenan or Tina Fey have got to be the two most likely candidates right? I guess Amy P is possible too since she doesn’t seem to be doing *that* much at the moment. [not a knock on her career, just saying isn’t in a regular gig]
I know its unlikely, and there’s a huge difference in being a cast member and actually running the show, but I can’t help thinking Kenan might be a really good choice. At this point, he’s the one person after Lorne who really has a grasp on how the show works and what it takes to run it.
One thing that weighs on Michaels’ mind when it comes to contemplating his departure is that he “won’t want the show ever to be bad...”
I can imagine Courtney Cox playing Charlotte and it being more or less fine. I cannot imagine Kristin Davis playing Monica and it being anything other than a disaster.
