I feel like this plot was just done with The Umbrella Academy on Netflix...I mean it’s the same thing, former superhero kids deal with being adults and have to put their issues aside to save the world. If that show is any indication they’ll probably have to get a lot more whimsical to make the show any kind of

I’m disappointed, but on the other hand I would rather this than have either weirdly bad episodes with new writers or have Jung/whoever be “out of town” for 3/4 of a season because they’re too busy in real life.

I agree...I think for reboots like this you have to either make an attempt to update it and try to make it something a modern adult would watch (like The Conners) or just straight up aim it at children and have the children as lead characters like the Boy Meets World reboot. You can’t just rehash the same plots as the

Schitt’s Creek definitely is adult oriented. Like you said about the other shows, it’s not violent or super sexual but I wouldn’t say it’s aiming to be a show for the whole family. Kim’s Convenience is probably a bit more family friendly but not original Punky Brewster level.

My guess is a little of column A and a little of column B. Plus I guess they’re thinking about the reboots of Hawaii 5-0 and Macgyver, which have inexplicably both each been on for like 7-10 years.

The only reason I’ve heard of this is because Jake Johnson came on the Thirst Aid Kit podcast to talk about it and IIRC, even he was basically describing it as the dumbest show ever.

I found it funny for at least the first 4 seasons. I think it just is a victim of being described awfully, like I think I never would’ve watched it either if I hadn’t started in about season 2, before all the reviews started emphasizing the depression.

I’m not surprised that it’s not that great...I just don’t see the point. The movie only came out 20-ish years ago and is (was?) in constant reruns for years, it was well liked and literally made a star out of its lead (J Lo). I guess they’re hoping to get Gen Z?

Well I know another Netflix show, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina had a character designated female at birth (played by a nonbinary actor) transition during the series so they’re open to it.

Aside from the fact that it seems to have gotten some buzz (I saw several people “hatewatching” it on Twitter, yeah ok you’re on episode 8), I really think Netflix renews most of its shows for 2 seasons from jump. There are a few exceptions but it seems this applies to most Netflix shows that aren’t exceedingly niche.

I didn’t think he was amazed at seeing houses, I got the impression that he was upset that the houses were empty. He’s homeschooled so that takes care of the need to go to school, and maybe they told him there’s no other kids in the neighborhood or something. Also maybe Vought told Becca not to tell him anything about

They fooled me, I thought Masked Singer just shot multiple seasons back to back last year or something.

It kind of reminds me of Disney Channel or Nick when I was little, usually the same actors from their shows would appear in the unrelated original movies. I think they’re just friendly with those actors, so it’s probably easier to just get one of them to do it as opposed to looking for new actors.

I think she’s just aged a lot between the last Stranger Things and now, that and photoshop is making her look comparatively weird.

People are saying the Good Place should’ve won but tbh...I enjoyed Schitt’s Creek much more than The Good Place. Especially the last season, to me TGP just didn’t seem like it knew how to end.

I’m kind of surprised that Schitt’s Creek is cleaning up like this...I knew it was well liked but idk it didn’t seem like something that would win a ton of awards.

I think that’s how it can be with cancer though. My aunt passed this May, had been battling breast cancer on and off for 9 years. She texted the family on Sunday saying that she wasn’t feeling too well and literally by Wednesday she had passed. I think she knew she might die but I don’t think she thought it would be

I thought the whole show took place over at least 6 months if not a year, so at least 2-3 months per season? I know it’s not a month per season because they go through the winter solstice and the summer solstice as well. Although I do agree that for a live action version they’re probably gonna make the timespan longer.

I want to know what are the specific issues that led to this...A lot of people are suspecting whitewashing and if so, then Netflix is just dumb. They had to have at least done research into the original movie adaptation’s reception to know that whitewashing was an issue. Or were they trying to make it Riverdale with

I’d be surprised if this happens. Or if they do, they’ll miraculously have a half black cast of women. The kind of people who are die-hard Bachelor fans would lose their minds if they had a black guy choosing between up to 25 white women, black man/white woman couples are still rare on network TV...Think about it,
