Exactly lol, people were saying this like halfway through the show’s run, it’s not new. And it only ended in 2014 so it’s not like people have forgotten.

I agree with you on both points and I think those are changes from the book that were to the detriment of the show. Maybe I was reading it wrong, but in the book I think the McCulloughs are less sympathetic. Not that they necessarily shouldn’t have May Ling but I think they were portrayed as being WAY more culturally…
I’m wondering how much they’re going to deviate from the book in the ending. To be honest, I found the book ending kind of abrupt so I’m interested to see if it’s improved by the show.
Idk, I feel like with the “sexless” complaint it’s kind of a catch-22. People complain when teen movies don’t have sex but they complain when there is sex, I’ve seen teen stuff with lots of sex/talk about sex (Riverdale, Big Mouth, etc.) literally called child p*rn. Also, I really feel like these 2 movies seem (at…
I actually think this makes Elena more sympathetic than in the book. In the book Elena’s treatment of Izzy seemed like much more of Elena just being extremely conservative, where here they add Elena not wanting another kid (I think in the book Izzy was just premature?) and regretting her life choices.
You’d be surprised, I’ve seen several instances of celebs sharing troll posts and then it turns out that it’s like some 13 year old that’s now getting death threats from grown men.
The real test is if they get seasons 3 or 4. It seems most Netflix shows get at least 2 seasons, I think after the third the cast/crew can ask for more money, so Netflix just cancels them unless the show is ultra popular.
I honestly believe that most of the problems with Handmaid’s Tale stem from it running as long as it has. The original book only has enough for 1, maybe 2 seasons (I haven’t read the sequel yet). Another major factor is the race thing, I don’t think diversifying the cast was a bad idea but they clearly did not think…
The wig looks a bit off but on the other hand, I know from experience that it is pretty hard to get ponytail-type wigs to look good. I guess that applies even at the Hollywood level.
I agree with the headline here, which is that Game of Thrones was much better than it had any right to be. I mean it was made by very inexperienced showrunners, with a ridiculously complicated plot and like 30 main characters in multiple completely different settings. This could’ve been waaay worse than it was. As…
I feel like that’s every network now (including Netflix)...If it doesn’t become some huge hit or have a ton of social media buzz then it’s over.
Yeah it baffles me when people act like they have these all new observations...Hell I remember my mom said she didn’t like Friends much because it was so white and that was a common thing. Mostly I’m just tired that every 3 weeks someone writes the same article with the same 5 things that people have been saying for…
I was trying to think of what that movie was called. That is literally one of the worst movies I have seen in my entire life.
Oh I’m not fretting, if and when the movie actually gets made I’m sure it’ll be fine (at least). I’m just saying what I think could be some problems that COULD arise, not that they’re all going to 100% happen. I’m not about tosend him a letter about it or anything.
Directors can be replaced, but that is nowhere near the ideal for a movie nor does that always result in a coherent film. Obviously you could argue that every movie is pointless, but this one just seems to be introducing potential issues that aren’t really necessary.
I don’t get this. Even if he doesn’t want to use CG, could he not just cast different actors? What’s the obsession with real time aging? Also isn’t Linklater in his 60s?? He could just straight up die before the movie is finished.
This is the absolute weirdest of these remakes to me. What deeper story can you find for Cruella de Vil?? At least with a lot of the other villains, even if they might be more destructive, there’s some over-the-top personal beef that’s motivating them. At least from what I remember, Cruella didn’t have any problems…
It seems like people have been re-discovering podcasts forever. Every year since like 2013, someone’s been leading the “podcast revolution”. Whichever celebrity gets a podcast next year will have the same article written about them, I guarantee it.
I don’t think those shows are saying that. I think this underestimates how hard it was until VERY recently to find major TV shows that had people that weren’t white and straight. Also I’m not sure how people in the examples you listed can become more “normal”. Like a gay person is supposed to become straight or a…
People are acting like “blackface being offensive” is a new thing but I distinctly remember the blackface thing was controversial even back when she did it...Like I know people who still dislike her comedy all because of that incident. So I could see how she would get fired (not that I would) now.
