Wheatley is a weird director. Kill List is one of the worst movies i've seen recently and High Rise, while flawed, captured the tone of Ballard's writing better than any other movie i can remember.
It is a cheap, safe way to boost ratings… for maybe half a season. That's why shows based off movies rarely last longer than that.
