Had any of you seen the English version or were you going in cold?

My husband and I loved the British version, got about 5 min into the American version and turned it off. The jokes were just so broad and awful, aping things that were in the British version - but worse.

As a childless woman in my 30s, I yell “I’m the MOTHER?!” all the time, Jenna perfectly captured a real feeling there. Last time I yelled this was realizing that Amy Smart, playing the mom in Stargirl, was wearing the same Anthropologie shirt that I was wearing while watching.

I felt like you until a trans friend confronted me about it, saying, “why can’t you just let people have the bodies/faces they want? Why judge them?” and that changed my perspective. We all make choices informed by a fucked up society, so I try not to judge people chasing their bliss (in ways that don’t harm others).

Yeah I got really frustrated by how the show ignored the reality of segregation last season, the portrayals of Black people were suuuuper shallow and obviously informed by nothing more than like fashion photos. I mean, I was a Gilmore Girls fan, I know ASP doesn’t write Black people -but maybe don’t include Black

That there was a bit of an easter egg for us Amy Sedaris fans! Her and the majordomo actor work together a lot, I always think of him as Stu the Meat Man from Strangers with Candy but he also had roles on At Home with Amy Sedaris. I assume they share Chicago improv roots w/like Steve Colbert and Paul Dinello. Anyway,

I’m late to this conversation but I also feel like you should compare only Sunny seasons 1 & 2 with Mythic Quest. I love Sunny but they are on season 8 million right now and like beyond running on fumes. I just feel like you can’t compare that to a new show, with a lot of possibilities. But the first 2 seasons? So

Yeah my husband pointed out that the plot went out of its way to separate her from Peacemaker while he had X-ray vision activated and reunite them only after he deactivated it. Seems like they’re at least implying it…

Watched the first episode of this, because they went to the trouble of assembling a lot of my favorite comedy people (character or real names: Sam, Vickie, Ilana, Jean Ralphio... Tiffany Haddish and Dave Franco are also fine). After epsiode 1, I really felt like the writing isn’t there. The cast is better than this.

Whoa! I know I’m very late to this review, but this is important info about the creator. Wow. Thanks.

I’m a big fan of Gina Torres (Zoe from Firefly) and she has pointed out that she really only gets cast as “Black” and in Black films because, in her words, Hollywood prefers Latinas who look Italian.

*you’re.

So… no reflecting, then? Cool. Ha, you’re so mad. Honestly I replied to one of your comments before I scrolled all the way through this massive thread and yes, I did enjoy all the different people calling you out, by the time I got through it. Consider me but one in the chorus, explaining to you how transparent,

Older man who married younger woman, passionately defending young women’s right to date old men. News at 11. Yawn.

The show got so much worse when they left Scottland.

I have become really fascinated with this person’s stroked-out writing style and the fact that they’ve commented on every thread under this article, without seeming too familiar with the avclub in general (example: Maureen vs AA). My bet is: very disillusioned CW employee? Run of the mill madman?

We’ve already repeatedly seen Nat bring back deer and feed everyone. She’s one of two hunters? I kinda thought that would be enough to justify the “she’s the reason we’re here” loyalty but you’re right, there’s probably an event.

Raised by Wolves was fucking terrible and I blame no one for forgetting it.

I don’t know but when I saw that she’s going I was like “yes! More Van speaking German!” Im eager for this to come up again, that was such a fun episode.

Spoilers!
