Actually, as much as the article and the comments seem to scorn it, this is huge. It makes a real difference for people who have friends based on common interests and not on common geography. And it will make a difference in piracy (don't know on what scale).

You forget the very simple option C) Talk with the college administration like rational human beings to see if there is a way to continue studying there without compromising your chosen belief system, or national loyalty, or cultural pride symbols, or whatever else the problem might be.
