All 2015 trims are orderable with Performance Pack - I work for Lindsay VW near DC and have around half a dozen available now in SE and Autobahn trims, and with manual or DSG as well.

Which vendor did you go with? I'm planning to do Unitronic on my wife's GTI once the DSG flash is available.

GAP insurance is oftentimes included free of charge with a lease, at least for VW. If not it can always be added for other manufacturers. Saved me once already when I ruined my 2013 GTI (thanks a lot DEER)

Other factors: GAP insurance is often included free, incentives are often better for leasing than for financing (at least for VW, which is where I work), and you are always under warranty. Oftentimes, maintenance covers you for all or the majority of the lease as well.

True. The only other car I would spend that much on right now though would be a 1991-1993 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 in black on black; and the Golf R is more practical for right now, especially maintenance-wise.

Agreed. I currently have a mk1 Rabbit, mk1 Caddy, and a mk7 GTI for the wife. I'm going to be ordering a mk7 R in a manual with DCC and nav the instant it becomes available.
