Tesla Model 3. It has some weird halo effect despite being ugly and having a bargain basement interior... And that's before getting into the quality issues. It drives fine, it's fast, and electric... But since when does that get it a free pass when it also costs $50k?

There was a case many years ago where a guy was rejected from the academy for being too smart. He sued the department, and I think the ruling was that smart people are not a protected class, so he lost.

I think one of the requirements is to be that stupid.

When I started doing track days in 1990, Corvettes made 245hp. There were more powerful cars, but they weren’t common, so if you wanted more, you had to spend a good amount of money to go get it aftermarket. Typically, this was only after you’d had a few years under your belt, to discover you liked this hobby.

The Luqiao CMA Super Factory isn’t really a “Geely (discount product)“ facility, since it’s largely operated by the Volvo (premium product) division and is used for models on the CMA platform - which includes Geely, Volvo and Link & Co. and is largely used on the more expensive products they sell. Man, I lost all desire for these kinds of machines a while ago. I’m not sure when it happened, exactly, but at some point I discovered that ‘serious’ performance cars just don’t interest me. They’re too intellectually heavy. There’s no figurative lightness to them. They do what they do - and they do it exceptionally

The secret sauce to the crosstrek is a trifecta of affordability, versatility and capability.

I'm actually with you on preferring dial controls over touchscreens, but I just... don't like Mazda's setup. I mentioned it in another comment, but Genesis has a really nice and intuitive rotary setup that works like a charm! I love that I can rest my arm and navigate controls without having to poke around on the

“Nevertheless, the language that was used, and making it so personal, was a level that we have not seen in this sport before.”

In fact... there have been dozens of articles written on this site of McLarens, Ferraris, Lambos and whatnot catching on fire.

it was mercedes that complained because they ignored improving their pit stops because they had a second a lap faster car and didn’t need them.

If anyone bought a bronco because they could get it with 35 inch tires instead of 33 on the wrangler they were never going to buy a wrangler. I can walk into any dealership near me and buy a brand new jl with 35 inch tires and lift and warranty.

I hear what you are saying, and you are certainly not wrong.
I did this trip for my own personal enjoyment, where-as a lot of locals are just trying to get by.
I have to say the longer I was in Africa the more I connected with the people, and they were always shocked when I would jump out in knee deep mud to help push

I’ve never had any luck with the stuff, so I don’t trust it.
Have you had it work for you?

Thanks, I really appreciate that! More article are planned, I’ll be sure to include more photos and stories.
What topics would you like me to cover?

Thanks!

I honestly think it comes down to driving style & careful maintenance.

The whole point is that if you don’t have big tires, you can’t break axle shafts because you can’t get enough traction.
When was the last time you heard of a stock Jeep breaking drive line components? ... and I should add there that obviously if you go to moab and drive with your foot on the floor you can break

I’m curious to hear about modifications that will increase reliability of the driveline, engine, etc. ?

In over 100k miles through 55 countries around the world I never had a major failure, and in fact I still drive my “Africa Jeep” every single day, even in Canadian winters. It’s got 190k miles on it now, never a

Personally, I’ve done a mix of both, and:

i don’t have questions, just advice. get window socks with magnets for hot nights. make sure you have AC power sorted for computers and whatnot (or get a dc powered adapter). You can by that cheap reflectix stuff from home depot and cut to window shapes to keep out heat and prying eyes. recommend. get a trash solution
