As an environmental scientist, I am completely fine with a non-scientist manager being the head of EPA (or NOAA, NASA, USGS, USFS, FWS, etc.). Eh, I’m not mad. I was rooting for Tatiana, mostly because she seemed more driven, but both she and India did good work on the show and seemed like reasonably well balanced human beings. None of the 14 contestants in the house were all that terribly exciting though. It made me miss Jade and her whack-ass poetry. lol

Did you watch the finale? They *asked* India to have dead eyes in one of the shots they did for Paper and then faulted her when she couldn’t pull it off. I thought that was weird. Maybe they were trying to make her look even more like Gigi?

Probably the same way people in Nevada and Arizona feel about the proposed cuts to the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative... That is, until they suddenly want our water because drought and over-pumping has completely ruined theirs.

I wouldn’t doubt that it is because of Illinois Obama that Trump wants to cut funding to the great lakes out of spite because most of the state didn’t vote for him he really fucking hates Obama (and is, in all likelihood, super-racist).

I work with a bunch of people whose programs/positions are funded through GLRI grants. My organization just put in a huge grant proposal for GLRI funds too (FY16 money, so it might still happen!) FML for real though...

I moved here a few months ago having grown up in upstate NY and then worked in New England for several years. This winter was positively balmy compared to that experience! I’m pretty sure it’s a fluke though.

So has Chicago. It was very, very cold around Christmas and we got about a foot of snow. Snow melted on Christmas day and it has been unseasonably mild since then. It’s supposed to get close to 60 degrees this weekend.
