I can't remember where I read it, but the best description I ever saw of Stephen Moyer's accent was "like William Shatner playing Scarlett O'Hara" and I've never been able to hear Vampire Bill speak again without completely losing it.
Good memories getting into that show. It went off the rails soooo fast but I hung on pretty long. Still haven’t seen the last season and I really miss having like, a regular Anna Paquin fix.
The Gawkerverse weekly recaps were one of the best features to ever grace the site.
I loooooooved this show until it went completely off the rails with the fairies and werepanthers and whatnot. I still watched it until the end, but my love faded into a comfortable habit.
What a walk down memory lane — it seems so recent but so long ago! I was a diehard True Blood viewer. My friends would even get me True Blood swag as gifts, like a set of pint glasses brand with Merlotte’s, Fangtasia, and Bon Temps, LA logos. We had a blood-themed part for the series finale.
Sharon, Sharon, Sharon! Gurl, what is you doin? Oh, just being a white woman of a certain age who is upset and reminiscing on the good ol days where racism was not a fireable offense? I see, I see. Welp, it would not pain me to see both you and your lil friend, Piers off the air.
Actually, I realized I’d answered my question after I posted my comment.
I think you underestimate how proud and egocentric a reasonably successful white man can be. He probably thought he was doing her a favor by trying to fuck her, and when it was clear she had no interest in his busted ass his ego couldn’t rationalize the situation unless she’s a slut, or crazy, or a lesbian... etc. etc.
I just don’t understand how “she didn’t date Piers” isn’t the end of the story. Was there no one in that man’s life who could tell him to get over it and move on?
People like this will just never understand that freedom of speech doesn’t dictate how people are allowed to react. “You’re paid for your opinion.” Well, I’m not paid to listen to it, so what if I don’t? Someone could pay me to build furniture, but when the result is unusable garbage, nobody is going to sit in it.…
Here’s what’s puzzling me. Or maybe it’s not puzzling me at all. Meghan and Harry HAD to have talked about this with the members of the family before they left. They had talks about it for months, despite the “broadsided the Queen” propaganda from the media. It’s not possible that during months of talks, they did…
“Not that they endorse anything that I’ve said, of course, but at least they seem more concerned with making good games than with pushing some kind of a social justice agenda, so there is hope.”
I feel like if it was still warm on a cold day, and no one had immediately left the seat before you sat down, then it was probably hot coffee or something that had been spilled there. Hopefully?
I live in PDX. There is a dude who has been permanently lifetime banned from public transit because he would either masturbate at women or sit behind them and cut their hair. He did it multiple times, was jailed, was banned and then was caught again doing the same thing maybe ~10 months ago. It was really frightening…
Yeah, I’ve been present for two knife fights on the Frankford El (from Spring Garden to Bridge and Pratt), once in the middle of the afternoon and once at around 8 or 9 PM.
There was a body at the bottom of an escalator in the NYC Port Authority. We all had to step over it because nobody had arrived and it hadn’t been stopped yet.
Does a sensation count? I’ll never forget the time I sat on a warm, wet spot on a crowded bus. It was a very long ride, and a cold day. I figured damage was done, kept the spot, slid a newspaper under me and miserably rode home. Took an endless shower and cried later.
