Wait, what? I didn’t tell anyone to chill. I elaborated on what I was trying to express with my comment as it seems it was poorly expressed. I don’t know how it could be thoughtless or inaccurate as it was an opinion. And in fact I came back to add both their ages which I think you’ll find are accurate.

Hmm, interesting, hadn’t thought of it that way. Ever since I visited Europe for the first time in the mid-90s, before the Euro was introduced, I’ve thought of currency as a way for nations to communicate their history and values in the most basic way possible. Some of the artwork is so beautiful. But this perspective

Totally agree. I hate this system. I am also grey - somebody starred or replied to my OP, which is the only reason you see it! If I could, I would.

Elvish, yes! She should have been in LOTR!

It’s almost like you’re purposely misreading my comment in order to be argumentative? Like you created a burner account just to make this facile comment? Have some courage and use your regular moniker. And if you’ve never commented before and created an account just to make this comment, I would suggest you take your

I’m chill. I thought I qualified my comment by saying I realized she was in her 30s and even came back to add there’s only 11 years between them. It was just an initial feeling I had about that particular combination - maybe because of her start at a young age, and him playing a predatory guy for so long... I didn’t

LOL, yeah - I still remember her as the precocious 14 year old in Beautiful Girls - Timothy Hutton all weirded out by how he is sort of attracted to her.

Yeah, maybe you commented before my edit. She is 36, he is 47. It’s not that outrageous.

I realize she’s in her 30s now and a mother of two but this casting combination feels strangely pedophilic to me.

Can you elaborate on why you have mixed feelings? I am curious to hear another side on this.

Agreed. A bonus would have been nice.

As a Canadian, I will say that the name Olivia Coleman rings no bells for me at all, although perhaps I’ve seen her in stuff and just didn’t know it. Hugh Laurie’s House was, at one time, one of the biggest international TV shows going. On that basis, I wouldn’t call them equal - maybe in the UK this applies though.

Well, Hugh Laurie is playing Prince Philip in seasons 3 and 4, so it is something.

Do agents know what the other actors are being paid when they negotiate? Or maybe they can just make “equal pay” part of the negotiation?

Did not know that about Gillian Anderson. Garbage. I don’t get why more actors who are equal co-stars don’t follow the lead of the 6 Friends. Work together and take the same pay.

Actually plenty of studios reward high profile cast members with bonuses after a successful season. Although admittedly that’s more likely because they’re playing the long game, engendering good will for future contract talks, and Foy will only play queen for two seasons.

Starring Viola Davis!! So meta!

I get that but really... Matt Smith? Star power? He’s pretty niche.

I hear you. But the OP didn’t stick around beyond the first ep. Perhaps not as loyal as your average Who from Whoville.

So in other words, his audience is not that interested in this show. So was he really worth more than her, in terms of draw? I doubt he brought that many viewers with him.
