VERY. I definitely thought this was a safe joke too given that not only is the movie a quarter century old but the fact that they drive off the cliff is about as iconic as movie moments get. It’s like being mad if someone says “Luke I am your father.”

They went out on their own terms. it’s female empowerment but only because they stopped letting themselves get walked on, they made the final decision of how to go out. It’s not an optimistic movie but it’s not really a pessimistic movie either. They literally got to blow up the patriarchy a little bit, but there’s no

They were driving the flying car from Grease. They were, damn it.

hahahahaha that’s amazing.

literally list the drugs you are doing bc they seem interesting

Don’t cut yourself on that edge

Spoiler Alert: The car landed on Bambi’s mom.

Normal people would consider it worse if someone committed a violent crime and thought it was hilarious... I’m not exactly sure what went wrong with these prank bros...

I like the film, but it is also the most egregious offender of my biggest movie pet peeve: Characters having no difficulty carrying on a conversation while driving a convertible.

No, everything she did was her choice. She is just also a sweet and quiet woman whose other favorite movies include The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady and 84 Charing Cross Road. That she was fairly happy in her life made it more enlightening that she related so strongly to the struggle that she jumped out of her chair

Fun useless trivia:

This is a great photo.

Oh dear. Let me help you with your profile picture, it seems you don’t have one yet:

Fun fact: The final car jumping scene wasn’t actually filmed at the Grand Canyon. It was filmed in Canyonlands National Park in Utah. I made my husband take a photo with me last summer.

I never liked the end of it. I always worried that the crash wasn’t enough to kill them both instantly and they laid helpless and dying agonizingly slowly in the dry Arizona sun for days.

I first saw this move in 1991 when I was 14. I loved it but I didn’t totally “get” it. I couldn’t yet identify with the anger. I loved the scene when they blow up the truck, but I didn’t “get” it. I remember blaming Thelma for what happened to her. Because I didn’t “get” it at 14.
I watched it again a few weeks ago

Geena Davis (Thelma) and Susan Sarandon (Louise) decided to “just keep going” and drive their Thunderbird into the Grand Canyon. But though the movie is probably best known for that tragic final scene

True story: my sister just told me of her plans to drive cross-country with her adult daughter. She described it as a Thelma and Louise trip. When she saw the concern on my face, she admitted that she had never seen the movie and thought it was about girl-bonding, get-away-from-it-all time. Yes it is Sis, but also
