As much as I hate to say it, innocent until proven guilty. Maybe the pledges acted on their own, maybe they didn't. But until more details are known, the responsible thing is not to start throwing around accusations, but to deal with the facts that are known. it's far more dangerous to make assumptions toward guilt.

The way I see it-

Asking if there is a middle ground implies that Lindy is asking for offensive topics to be "totally off limits" (your words), as one extreme and being a "rape-advocating cockmongler" as the other extreme. If that's not what you meant, then it was a poorly executed statement.
