That's how I was feeling during the first half, but I thought it came together by the midpoint. The 2nd half is noticeably campier (at least I thought it was), especially after the Blossoms became even more of a gothic horror show.

It took a few episodes for it to click with me, but by the back half, I was totally invested.
I'm still holding out for the Sabrina spin off of my dreams.
That and they sat on the movie for years after he finished making it. I can't imagine that was great for his career, although maybe it was! He managed to make The Sixth Sense next.
This is not a good movie, but if you've ever dreamed of seeing Rosie O'Donnell as a Philly sports loving nun, Wide Awake is for you! Synopsis: a young kid grapples with his faith after losing his grandpa in this comedy for all ages. Actual synopsis: obnoxious kid is cloyingly sweet and precocious while also making…
And to get even more meta, Jezebel.com ran a story about the parody minutes after the episode ended.
Of course not, but I don't think it was a very good (or accurate) criticism. Like I said elsewhere in the comments, I can think of plenty of things to critique about liberalism (I'm also very liberal), but it often just feels like Tina Fey is complaining about "the kids, these days".
I think you nailed it, as well as Fey's general approach to comedy. Recently she's been getting more and more defensive about political correctness, and in her head I think she just wants to be funny, but she doesn't understand (or doesn't want to understand?) that comedy doesn't happen in a bubble. If you're making…
"it was just… so far removed from any emotional reality that i wasn't even insulted as a college student & activist, i was just, like, cringing w/ secondhand embarrassment."
I think Kimmy Goes to a Play had the potential of working, and it just barely toed that line, but unfortunately I know Tina Fey's voice well enough to know she was probably just shitting on that culture. I still like Tina Fey, but she has some real blind spots, and I wish she'd be more open to criticism of her…
Like the episode that parodies a specific Jezebel.com story about the Daily Show writers room? That one fell flat when it aired, and I imagine it's even worse now.
I was thinking of the comparison between Tara and Maggie, too. Even though they both filled a similar role on the show, and even though Tara was never the most developed character on Buffy, she still had episodes and b-plots devoted for her, and they didn't all involve Willow!
I agree, but I still don't know why they dropped that plot. I kind of assumed Supergirl would be exploring the backstories of all its characters for, ya know, character development.
Honestly, I think they would have broken up somehow even if she was still on the show. I never thought Maggie was going to be a permanent fixture for 7 seasons, at least not in the role she was currently serving. No TV writers are going to marry off one of their main characters in the third season, especially not on…
The Twister is a good coaster and my second favorite at Knoebels, but I prefer the Phoenix for a number of reasons:
Aw, that's such a bummer! I know the outside areas had a lot of inclines that might have been difficult for you, but I don't remember the castle parts being too bad, apart from being narrow. That said, I admit I wasn't walking around thinking about accessibility.
Despite living within driving distance of Knoebels, I have never managed to go on their fall/halloween themed days. Maybe this year I'll finally do it!
Jeeze, I am sorry you had to go through that. I only visited Universal once, but it seemed like rides had A LOT of down time. While we were in line for Forbidden Journey they mentioned delays multiple times, and the same thing happened on the Jurassic Park river ride, and numerous others. I also had the app on my…
Yup! It was under construction last summer when I visited Universal, and I can't say I was too disappointed at missing out. It fits the theme of Universal just fine (it's divided into sections based on famous cities), but the Fallon tie in didn't leave me particularly jazzed.
Sorry, that was some projection. I'm a gay lady and I know how I felt towards her, but I might be older than a lot of fans (late 20's vs teens/early 20's, presumably) so I might be past the point where I need to identify with queer characters on a super personal level (again, more projection!). I liked her as a love…
