That’s a nice sentiment but there are many of us out here who are very much work to live and don’t have a passion for their job or field. The though of my job or career being a core part of someones identity makes me sad. They’re the people who can’t retire because they don’t know what else to do then quickly decline

He spends several minutes trying to explain to her why he’s right, and his argument boils down to “I know the law and you’re telling me no, so you’re being arrested.” And that dipshit doesn’t know the law because no matter how you present it, it is an illegal search to take blood from someone, without their consent,

That second cop was worse. The first one was your standard short-tempered bull and control freak. The second was manipulative, a liar, and smarmy. He misrepresented the law and the situation to try to coerce her into essentially breaking the law on his behalf.

I see your point, and I thought about it on this particular thread. Trust me, I’ve used the dismiss button a fair amount, the word mansplain really attracted the nastiest form of troll. But I don’t think guys like EchoChamber are troll-trolls. From what I can tell, he’s just regular, boring dude who thinks he’s

Oh, man. I only have the glasses and mac. I also have a great job. Oh, darn. I am guessing yours and Sneaky’s starter pack is a sock, lotion, and breitbart? You all complaining about “mansplaining” while calling all women idiots (at least Sneaky was). Do you not see the irony in that? Bye, Felicia!

If I may suggest something, simply dismissing the MRA fuckheads who get triggered over the word mansplain should be the first choice for everybody. As we can see, they bring no arguments to the table, just bitch and moan over a term that has landed on the reich-wing blacklist of verboten words.

OMG, his good cop routine was so fucking grating. “Hey, there are civil remedies if we were acting illegally.” Spoken like a veteran of a criminal enterprise.

it’s sexist to point out when someone is being sexist? Did you pick that up from the #alllivesmatter crowd? someone already told you the definition of mansplaining, and this event checks all the boxes, so i’m not sure why you picked this hill to die on

You are not out of line to bring up the mansplaining. It is absolutely something that I, as a nurse, deal with everyday. Over 11 years in my field, and yet I have to endure being told how to do my job all the time- even though I am the one with the license and scope of practice to be doing the delegating to others.

When will men understand that words like “mansplain” are not sexist. You are not the oppressed. Words like “sexism” and “racism” are used to describe how the oppressed are treated, not how the oppressed in turn treat their oppressors. Give me a break.

Would you prefer the word “condescending”? Or perhaps the term “unnecessary interjection”? Or if we call him just fucking clueless? Let me know, because I’m awaiting with bated breath your mansplaining response. /s

Now playing

You, and all your grey’d ilk complaining about my use of the word ‘mansplaining’ can kindly take a seat. This is a perfect example of the concept.

They believe they can break the law because they can.

Seriously this. While the first guy is an absolute asshole, the second guy is almost just as bad. fuck him

I think this is one of the biggest takeaways from the video!

Further into the video after she is in the car, another cop who I assume is a supervisor is explaining to the nurse how its no big deal if the cops break the law and take the blood illegally, that there are civil remedies for afterwards that will fix the situation, that if the cops broke the law anything that comes

“after refusing to violate hospital policy”

Jesus - when she sobs ‘why is he so angry’ is heartbreaking. His hands are actually on her and no one around her is able to stop him. She’s totally vulnerable, he’s unstable and everyone is helpless to prevent him from forcing her into his car. How absolutely terrifying.
