It’s not really gender-neutral, though. Since when do boys clothes include spaghetti straps? Or shorts that are actually, you know, short? Or shirts with cut outs?

You know what’s actually fascinating about abortion? It’s been happening FOREVER. Literally. It wasn’t even widely illegal in the US until the 1870’s (a change due mostly to fear that white, upperclass women weren’t reproducing enough) and before that the majority belief was that abortion was a-okay before

If she’s out of the hospital, she’s no longer contagious. A virus does not live in your system very long.

I don’t get Valiant. A couple of years ago there was such a huge commotion about them coming back, and wouldn’t it be great, what a cool universe, etc, but then I heard NOTHING about them or any of their series afterwards.

Yes, your literally allowed to do whatever you like. However, if the only defense for your position is that you are technically allowed to do it, that's not a very strong defense.

Why, it's Hiram McDaniels!

I wonder if Pickle Woman was related to the Jalapeno man I had once.

I thought so too. I haven't read the books, but I suppose that the fourth kid could be explained a couple of ways:

Or if the California board set up explicitly to investigate cases like this had done their job and enforced a safe school environment for her. Ugh. This whole thing sucks in so many ways.

Yes, how ridiculous that other people should find joy in things you do not.

Hm, I did count Kary twice, but I missed Cedar. I did not count Megan Grey because her story was disqualified and so her nomination was withdrawn from the final slate (its actual date of publication was January 2015, so it's eligible for next year's). I suppose we can count her for the sake of argument though.

Can you point out where, exactly, I said being a straight white male was equivalent to being sexist and racist? Clearly, if such an example exists, I have misrepresented my actual thoughts on the topic.

In addition to my previous reply, here's an actual analysis of the Sad Puppy ballot (I did not look at the Rabid Puppy ballot, since I'm not going to give Vox Day any page views):

I did.

"While I do see the perspectives of some individuals involved as being narrow or restrictive—I still have a hard time seeing this as an outright attack—though I'm one of those rare people who doesn't see opposing opinions as an attack."

I agree. Personally, I think it's likely that he's a busy enough man that he never even saw that he was part of their slate (if the Puppies even notified him—it's looking increasingly likely that their supposed notification efforts were sporadic at best), and anyway, the gossip is that he really dislikes Correia. My

I agree with you that not all the authors listed on the slate are against diversity (Butcher in particular seems to actively dislike Correia, or at least that's what the gossip says). My issue is not with the authors, at least not as a whole.

Yeah, pretty much.

All of what you have said is true.

My guess is that both tend to publish more "traditional" SF. It's pretty hard to pick a political choice when it comes to publishers, thankfully most out there are fairly balanced.
