You know what's really scary—imagine how many people must NOT know that ducks and chickens are different animals to force this restaurant to ask that question.
I like it, but I don't think it's a midwestern thing. I think it's just a lower class version of aioli on fries.
I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE!
That's true. I spent many a lonely night in not-gay gay bars before wising up and going to lesbian poetry readings instead.
Damn, the gay bar that isn't a gay bar sounded super familiar.
Was this Iowa City?
Well, my dad won't eat mayo on his fries because "that's what the French do, and we are not French."
I'm not saying that college investigations should be a replacement for legal proceedings. But legal proceedings can be very slow. Colleges can protect victims by, say, removing a rapist from the victim's classes or giving the victim a different dorm room before the rapist is found guilty.
I think those may have been my parents. I had to trick them into eating Middle Eastern food because they didn't want to "support the terrorists" by consuming a falafel. Now that they've learned they LIKE Middle Eastern food, they justify it with "It's probably mostly Greek, anyway."
I'm sure there is good work being done, but there's a hella lot of failures of the system too (speaking both from the news and from personal experience). It can be an excellent resource, but there's little consistency.
I think its true that we need to encourage more victims to report to law enforcement and make the legal process easier for them, but at the same time college rape investigations are important. Theoretically, a college investigation is meant to protect the victim more quickly than a legal investigation can because the…
Well, he wasn't British (or if he was, he'd been in the US long enough to lose his accent).
Next time just ask for water instead of milk in the latte. At Starbucks the chai comes in concentrate.
Actually, it's possible to avoid an entire food group. My father has not eaten fruit since he was six. Probably harder for veggies, but I'm sure people can do it.
Yeah, I tend to do this only in winter and spring, when my hair gets really dry. In summer I produce enough of my own oil ;)
I have fine hair (not curly but frizzy) and I really like doing a coconut oil mask every couple of weeks or so. A jar of coconut oil is like $5-10 from the grocery store and lasts forever. I apply it at night in the shower after shampooing, let it soak in for 10-15 minutes while I shave or whatever (some people put on…
I think you've got to view these diaries the same way you'd view somebody's account of their flyfishing trip. Makeup is a hobby and an interest, not a necessity, and like all hobbies some people are interested in it and some people cannot imagine why they would spend their time doing such a thing. I personally really…
I should clarify: I work in a place that is sort of like a cafeteria-style food court owned by a university. Almost all of our product is pre-portioned, so allowing a customer to try something requires throwing out an entire serving of it (and I got yelled at by my manager for giving someone a little extra white rice…
Yeah, I live in the portion of the midwest where for some reason people have never encountered food other than American cheese and hotdogs, so this is not the first time someone has reacted this way to words like "pesto," "bok choy" or "kale."
