No, its unforgivable to argue about it with the person serving you, though.

Eh, I don't think this has anything to do with economic background. The filet mignon thing is somewhat understandable (his reaction is not), but eggs? Surely, even just through cultural osmosis, everybody's got some idea that occasionally eggs look like a pile of yellow goop and occasionally they look like orange

Ah, the obligatory "I am unnecessarily upset over other people enjoying a perfectly harmless thing that I do not" post.

I don't know where I said that reproductive rights aren't important. What I said was that Serano's criticism of feminism (that abortion, while an important issue, consumes a disproportionate amount of feminist resources) is valid and a critique I agree with. I think her gay marriage analogy is particularly apt

On one had, I get what you're saying. On the other hand, I dislike saying what anyone should do with their bodies. If we're going to support people in getting tattoos, facial piercings, and other generally alternative-ish modifications, why so much ire for those who choose to get more standard-ish modifications? It's

I dunno. I get why people are against plastic surgery, but at the same time, I think people ought to be able to do whatever they like with their bodies. It seems silly to be pro-tattoo, pro-facial jewelry, etc and be against plastic surgery. Whether you're choosing to look more "different" or more "standard" its

If you don't know much about sports, how do you know what's typical? Iowa is not a leader in field hockey; no one would expect them to be pulling out consistent championship wins.

As someone who lives in this area: Sally Mason is a horrendous president on all issues having to do with sexism. This is the same woman who said rape was "human nature," after all. Interesting that the coach's sexuality may have also been an issue here, since Mason recently laughed off a group of people protesting the

It's unclear whether the women in that video are actors or not. He claims they are, but most people in the know seem to think that's bullshit. There's no good way to prove it unless one of the women comes forward, unfortunately. He's currently facing a rape accusation from an unrelated woman, so hopefully that pans

See, I always thought that "drunk" was the point beyond which you aren't capable of making rationalized decisions and therefore can't consent. To me, if you can still recognize what's happening around you and respond reasonably, you're not drunk. Probably just different people's definitions of the same thing.

People who are highly intoxicated can't consent, the same way that a drunk person can't decide that they're okay to drive home.

To be fair, I shamelessly stole it from another Jezebelian, so it isn't mine. It is, however, excellent.

Okay, I suppose I agree with him that the 21-age limit is causing/contributing to a lot of bullshit. I also agree that you shouldn't have sex with a drunk person, BECAUSE THAT IS RAPE FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

I agree. I hope she's the one that comes back.

Even better, I once got a message from a 16 1/2 year old that went something like, "hi, I'm messaging all the women I can find in the hopes that one will write me back and not be mean. I'm really 16 (and a half!) but everyone says I'm mature for my age and I'm looking for a real woman, not a girl. Don't bother

Well, abortion isn't a woman-only issue, since clearly there are plenty of people who aren't women who are capable of being pregnant, including intersex people, genderqueer people, and trans men. Also, your last two quotes seem to have nothing to do at all with transgender people objecting to abortion discussions,

No, that makes sense in the context of that sentence. "I like my chicken fried" is acceptable, because you're describing the method of cooking, not the whole dish. But you would never order "the chicken fried" at a restaurant, you'd order the fried chicken.

Not to mention the fact that there is a set order to adjectives in English. Based on word placement alone, "chicken fried" is clearly a descriptor, and "fried" would never come after "chicken" if chicken were truly the main component of the dish.

Legally speaking, "escort services" where women just accompany men on dates are not illegal, and not prostitution. In reality though, escorts usually are paid to also have sex with their clients, therefore making it prostitution.
