Don't leave for good, Scott. :(

This has literally nothing to do with my comment, right?

They're referring to the typo.

LAUSD is indeed pretty broke, I think.

Me too! I was in high school and I remember it vividly. That's not just a dog, that's the Akita!

Are you kidding? Do you think you’re the only vegetarian in the world? My family is Indian—we’ve been vegetarian for generations. And lol at “everyone.” Plenty of people are involved in efforts to end lion hunting and animal abuse in general. And if the Internet outrage about Cecil did nothing more than raise

A nice life doesn’t generally end in being shot and killed. That’s not usually something people include as part of what they’d call “a nice life.” Just say you don't care.

I’m over Internet outrage, but I think it’s in poor taste to dress up as a beloved dead lion. And I think the “people who care too much” comment is rich. Let’s read another fawning story about Rihanna.

My mom is in the slow process of dying now (ALS, said to be quick, sometimes not), and people already avoid me. I don’t even want to talk about it; I don’t know what they’re afraid I’d do if they saw me. I wouldn’t cry all over them or embarrass them. I’m still me—I still WANT to be me— even if I don’t feel like it

Lol!

Some congressional aide is running to their congressperson with this idea right now.

I promised myself I was going to buy one today. I’m (really desperately) trying to quit.

I agree. Imagine Sorkin saying, “Well, I take a character and examine her motivations, then I think: how would a WOMAN react to this?” Barf. I don’t run around evaluating life thinking, “As a woman, I...”

Right, exactly, and that’s a legitimate criticism. This post seems to be taking issue with the idea that Sorkin isn’t thinking “womanwomanwoman” the whole time he’s writing for a female character, or something.

Yeah, this is totally true.

I certainly get why he has criticism leveled at him for the way he presents women, but I don’t really see that this particular incident is particularly telling or damning, to be honest. The section you’ve bolded is especially not problematic to me. Writing female characters like they’re real, fully formed PEOPLE is

Maybe I'll get mad when it's over? I just can't make myself care.

Yes. With one exception, all of the friends I still have since my mom got sick are long distance. My physically close friends—save one—have all disappeared. Even my in-laws don’t ask about my mom. You’d think that it would be hard to be understanding of where they’re coming from, but the truth is that dealing with a

I loathe real, cut-across-the-forehead bangs. Sideswept or face framing is fine. I think the reason the traditional bang is so bad is because it's CUTE and that's a bit silly if you're not 4. There are some exceptions, but they are few and far between.

ILU. “The Mexicans are against the blacks and, face it, they’re both against us!”
