I love that photo and I don’t think that’s a filter, fwiw. But I love the idea of Mario Testino being like, “Lol, don’t worry about the lighting, I’ll just use Lo-Fi on it later.”

Yes.

Agreed.

God bless her but I think I'm too old for this.

I get where you’re coming from but all white people aren’t the same, and I don’t mean that like #notallwhitepeople. Like, I’m Indian, but I’m white. My husband is Hispanic, but white. I guess we usually look white “enough” to pass and therefore benefit from our whiteness, but we aren’t, like, corn fed Confederate

What about your sanctimonious whitesplaining western opinion is deserving of respect?

Are you Indian? Do not try to explain my country to me.

Your reading comprehension sucks. I was offering up the typical Jez assessment of the East. I'm Indian.

Indian society is entirely stratified because of Hinduism. Generations of people live in poverty because of their caste. “We” aren't panicking so much as I was stunned by your ignorance.

Don't bother. If it happens in the East then Jez writers/readers are totally flummoxed. India is a cesspool of rape, Buddhists are always gentle and kind.

Oh my god, what?

Yeah, and the other part of his comment, that you’re “cold and hardened” if you don't have children!

Ren Faire is a cousin to Coachella in a strange way, tho.

I was SO into boho circa 2005-2009 and I'm so fucking over it I could spit. I hate this.

I am talking about chronic pain. The pills do less and less over time and you may well begin to take more. And the longer you do it, the easier it gets to rely on them in a way you didn’t mean to. There’s no “extra day or two” with chronic pain.

Cuz this lady is backwards and old timey?

Uh, it’s not only “not feminist or whatever,” it's misogynist and self-hating.

Chronic pain is no joke. There's no choice between living with it and exchanging the pain for an addiction. It's super easy to go from the prescription to an addiction.

I had surgery and I was overprescribed an opioid painkiller that I still take for debilitating cramps and migraines. I think it's a short leap if you have chronic pain.

That's my worst nightmare.
