This probably ventures into "Facebook" category, but cell phones and the smartphone technology (readily available Internet/texting).

@Gavagirl: While I'm lucky to have a decent paying job, lack of affordable housing has gone out of control. I would love to be able to buy a decent townhouse close to work, but that could easily cost $400K or more.

@femme-bot: Shoes?!? You were lucky to have shoes. We had cardboard strapped to our feet and we liked it.

I thought those animal-shaped neon rubber bands/bracelets are ruining kids today.

I'm just not creative enough to do most DIYs, but the DIYs I like best are ones that save me money. And these I just copy from other people.

@BlueMorpho: I remember the trenchcoat "ban." (I don't remember if it was a ban or a warning, but there was some official thing on it.) It was after all those high school shootings. There were a group of harmless goth-like people (some who were sorta of my friends) who wore them.

@Spicy Armadillo: I honestly don't remember any of these things being banned at my school either. (Though I'm sure they were taken away if played with during class.)

@Keep it cool: I usually stick to silk underthings for travel. It doesn't matter too much if it wrinkles a little or not.

@kaiwhakamarie: It's sad that society can't accept that men are able to be raped.

@Easybreezy: I've been pretty lucky to get a collection of (cheap) silk camisoles going. The underwear stuff is harder though. I found a couple of pairs at this closeout store. I've thought about buying undies from here: [www.wintersilks.com] but still waiting for an incredible sale.

@Flackette Goes Retro: Definitely cross-body with a zipper. I don't buy bags anymore without one. I can be careless and it would be so easy to steal something from an open bag.

I really like having silk items for packing. You can hand wash many silk items and it dries very quickly.

I am no longer the target demo for A&F, but those retailers (particularly Ann Taylor) have a constant rotating amount of sales. I would never buy anything from Ann Taylor on retail, when they routinely go for 30-40% off.

@Kitty Conner: Talbots has a new designer now. A lot of the new items skew younger.

@voteforme: I wish I could read in the car/bus. I get a huge headache when I do. It was one of the tragedies of my youth (in many long car-related family vacations).

@JaneGalaxy: I don't think it will be addressed this season.

@Casquivana: I don't think there were any winners in that.

@cinematheques: I really coveted Meg Ryan's hair on "City of Angels." I wanted that hair, but it so wouldn't work for my roundish face.

@oh_desy: It was required reading for my upper-level English class in 7th grade. I really enjoyed it at the time. I got out a lot more out of it as an adult, however.

@rechoired: I'm in my (late) 20s, but I guess there was never anyone with severe peanut allergies when I was in school. I went to a small-ish school.
