I don’t think CGI is inherently lifeless, and not all hand-drawn animation is good. As with all things, when a medium like anime becomes popular, overall quality averages down when the quantity goes up.

I actually don’t mind when a director or writer wants to take a hero in a less traditional direction, but this movie has both Batman and Superman doing that. If you’re going to make a “hero vs. hero” film, one needs to be a foil for the other—they can’t both be cynical, jaded and operating in gray areas.
Have you talked to any non-comics fans who saw the movie? Their expectations were probably different than those who are fans of the source material.
I sort of agree with this. They smooshed too much stuff into the movie. It’s pretty obvious they cut corners in the story to justify getting from one scene to the next.
Allow me to be the first! I liked the movie, but it obviously had room for improvement. I went in with really low expectations, so it wasn’t a high bar to reach in the first place.
“It’s about ethics in music journalism.”
I was gonna say it looks like an armored version of the TMNT van.
Nine Inch Nails did a “final tour” thing? I don’t recall that. Then again, I stopped following them sometime after with With Teeth.
I’m glad someone else said this, because I didn’t want to be that person who hopped into a comment thread just to be like, “I don’t find this appealing at all.” Then again, I’m not exactly their target audience, because I really don’t like dance music.
You get a star simply for the use of “redonkulous.” When I say that, people look at me like I made that shit up whole cloth.
How’d you end up in the greys?
I agree. Trans people have it the worst right now with the constant threat of violence, the struggle to be accepted and the current trend of legislation that targets them. On the other hand, I’ve found that being bi (or pan, as I actually identify, but people don’t seem to like that label) means almost never being…
That is so fucking gross that I made a face at my screen. People aren’t perks. Further proof that assholes in academia aren’t as superior as they like to think they are.
This was the first Metroid game I ever played, and I really liked it. I would have loved to have finished it, but I got stuck the first time I had to do one of those morph ball bomb triple jumps and I could. not. do. it. /sigh
My thoughts on some of the comments here:
Yep. When I got harassed at work once (this dude LICKED me) my stupid response was to look like a deer in headlights and then blurt out, “I have a boyfriend,” which he knew fully well.
Dang, that’s crazy. You must have a really good job. I don’t think I could live that way. Not that I broadcast all my dirty laundry to the world anyways, but I think I would feel so stifled.
“Almost” for me as well. On The Muse they never really talk about music I listen to.
That’s cool. Those kinda bands aren’t really my thing. The closest thing I get to hipster music is certain prog rock, like the Mars Volta. My little sister still accuses me of being a hipster because I have actually used the cringe-worthy phrase, “You’ve probably never heard of them” accidentally when talking about…
Semi-related: One time I saw another user on Gawker with the exact same avatar as me (but different name, of course). It was very weird and disconcerting. It was like seeing a stranger wear my underwear or something.
