My mother, a slender woman, was always wonderful about this. She never once criticized my weight. Now, when I whine about it, she insists that it isn't that important 'in the grand scheme of things'.

I think the most irritating part, for me, are the 'exercises' promoted to help you get those great abs/thighs/butt etc. Some teeny tiny woman in spandex and sport bra and cute ponytail posing and NOT A SPECK OF SWEAT.
This weekend I went to the gym and looked in the mirror there and started to cry. When I got home I called the three guys in my band (I'm in a rock band) and told them I couldn't practice because I had gained 5 lbs and was too distraught.
