Couldn't it mean 3 in the hallway and May in the building? Maybe it just detects LMD 's in the base - not that specific location?

If they did have one wouldn't it have picked up on fake May?

I don't know that Mack can fly a jet. Maybe that is another clue, would whoever is up there have to be a pilot? That is assuming that there is only one person inside.
