This is my favorite animated movie! The impressionistic artwork is incredible. Although I agree with you that the plot is problematic. Anything I liked as a kid just has a soft spot in my heart I guess. It is strange to look back on stuff and be like, “Wait... THAT was the plot?!” Still, I just love this movie.

Interesting! Yeah if it was in fact sleep paralysis, it would have been my first episode – the other two incidents happened many years later in my mid-20's. Both of those were the typical vague, shadowy figure: The first time it was standing in the corner of my bedroom near my dresser, and the second time it was at

Yeah a few people have mentioned that my second experience was likely sleep paralysis, and it definitely could have been.

Whoaaaa thank you Jezebel!!

I too have been reading all these stories home alone during the day and getting so freaked out, lol!

The Shining will forever and always be my number one. I know lots of people don’t think it’s scary, but I think it’s terrifying and the soundtrack is incredible. Also I think the bathroom scene with Grady is one of the scariest scenes of all time because of the way it builds.

Wow that is horrifying, I’m so sorry for your friend and her siblings! Glad to hear she is doing okay now though. Did he end up getting parole? I can’t believe they let him read other victims’ statements!

I know this is the least important of all his many offenses but something about his unwavering commitment to these juvenile twitter “nicknames” is so cringey and pathetic to me.

I read this while home alone and seriously got so freaked out. Initially when you described the apartment covered in dust, I thought it was going to be a supernatural/time-travel thing where you had stepped into the past, but the actual explanation is so much more terrifying!

I remember this one and it still gives me chills! Especially imagining the sound of the metal/chains clanking around, and how the sound would stop but he still wouldn’t reply to you! So terrifying.

Someone else mentioned this possibility too and now I’m freaking out! Time for another glass of wine I think...

I still have no idea! I suppose it could’ve been sleepwalking, but I’ve never heard of two people sleepwalking together. This is one of the only creepy things I’ve ever experienced, and I’m generally not a huge believer in ghosts or demons, but I do think unexplainable things can happen sometimes – I honestly don’t

“Someone else pretending to be them” just gave me chills, aahhh!! Her mom is what really really disturbed me because I had never even seen her remotely angry, much less demonic-looking like she was that night. I still don’t know what the explanation is.

I still haven’t seen that because the “get in the oven” scene from the trailer creeped me out too much! lol

Haha no worries! And yeah, what’s the deal with the star count going down when you star people – Is that a recent glitch? I was noticing that when I tried to star other people’s stories.

Haha I do think about that sometimes — why the eff did I ever go back?! — but I think 1) I was young and naive and convinced that nothing creepy would happen again if I just didn’t sleep right near the hallway where he could reach me, and 2) It’s hard when you’re BFFs with someone as a kid to turn down a sleepover

This is a little more creepy/disturbing than scary, but it’s something that still gives me chills when I think about it (and I try not to think about it very often). Note: All names have been changed.
