This is so true, when I was with my ex, as we hit the five year mark, people kept asking us when we would get married. I kept saying I didn’t really want to and why get married when things are “great” the way they are.

Hasn’t Dolly herself ascribed that marriage success to their don’t ask-don’t tell policy when she tours. Not saying open marriages dont have some challenges but with the right couple, being able to see others makes life long committment significantly easier.

This is a really interesting observation. Is it a case of people trying to insulate themselves from fears of financial instability or collapse? Sort of a “bad things can’t happen to me because I’m not one of them (the poor)?” Sort of how they assign moral failings to being poor?

For some unknown reason, people all over the world are desperate to identify with and support the wealthy. Some kind of capitalism-specific mental illness. The unhinged delusion that they too could become who they revere, I guess. Not to get all Marxist up in here, but it's the root of our collective oppression. 

And we know that Rob does virtually nothing with the sock business. It’s all done for him and was all set up for him by his mother. Unlike his sisters, he seems to be a liability if she were to push him into being the public face of the company, so she doesn’t.
