Joining the Big Ten has been good and bad. The Big 12 is a complete mess too so im nkt sure it would have been any better.

Thanks. It is a bummer. I went to games for years with my family. We went to the Fiesta Bowl against Florida. The talent at every position of that team was unparalleled.
As a long time Nebraska fan I have to say this is completely spot on. I was talking to my dad who still attends games. My view is that the "ship has sailed" in numerous ways. It was completely against the odds that Nebraska became a football powerhouse and thus it makes sense that when a few of the factors that made…
I have to agree. I'm not a Tiger fan in the slightest but it simply wasn't funny. It was a few pages of dead horse beating. Rehashing the tipping stories along with the diner mention is just old material. Hey did you hear the joke about Bubba Clinton and Monica Lewinksy???
Mr. Burnenko, I too love this. Frankly it is exposing Kobe for what he always was even when he was playing on the Pau and Shaq led teams. Kobe was never as good as he (or many others) thought he was. Peaking at 28.0 on PER and .224 WS/48 is not someone who should be in the conversation with Michael Jordan. Using those…
The simple efficiency difference between Kobe taking 3s vs long 2s is easy to calculate. Over his career he is a 33.5% 3pt shooter and 40.6% 16ft to 3pt line. That means for 3s he can expect 1.00 pts per shot and for 2s he can expect .81 pps. That is a very big gap. Whatever defensive impact a strategy favoring 3pt…
I watched both Rush and Grand Prix recently and the way Grand Prix is shot is far superior to the cartoonish CGI in Rush. I enjoyed Rush but the racing in Grand Prix is far better. I haven't watched Le Mans recently so I need to check it out again to compare to GP. I really enjoyed the scenes in Monaco and Spa.
It isn't the only reason they suck but it is a rather unique reason that they suck. There is a decent chance they will have the worst record in the league and challenge records in futility. What makes it unique is that their roster spot has some decent players. Most terrible teams have a bunch of nobodies that are…
I would not be shocked to find out that the Lakers were aware of Scott's ineptitude amd hired him with the intent of tanking for a few years. In no way did it make basketball sense to give Kobe a max deal. He isn't worth 1/2 of that even if he is 100% healthy. Now from a ticket selling perspective he probably is.…
I second this motion. I think this could be its own Kinja blog for the Lakers this year. I'd like to see how Kobe starts to diverge from Scott's plan over the season and how that correlates to the record.
The football analogy woild be for the QB to take the snap in the shotgun 30 yards behind the line and throw deep passes to recievers 5 yards beyond scrimmage.
More accurately, unless you are a player that can make midrange jumpers at a rate to make up for the 1 fewer point gained per make. That is a tall order which is rarely achieved.
If you look at his advanced stats, he is trending toward being an all-time great PF/C. Statistically he looks quite a bit like Tim Duncan in his first few years and Duncan had the huge benefit of playing with veteran All-stars in David Robinson and Avery Johnson. The Pelicans don't have a guy over 25 years old that…
I agree. This is not a list from a PR firm. He may have incorporated some points from a PR flak regarding his public defense of his image. Points 6 thru 11 are his facetious attempt to speak for the media's thought process.
Maybe it just shows that Roger Goodell is a poor negotiator. Although it is two sets of TV networks for the comparative deals (ESPN/TNT for NBA and CBS/Fox/NBC for NFL), they presumably were all bidding on this. The difference is that the NBA was able to negotiate a far better deal.
My observation is that Dr. Z balanced out PK until Zimmerman's stroke. Before the stroke PK didn't stand nearly as front and center for SI. I think Z would also call him out for much of this shit. PK served a purpose by cultivating anonymous sources throughout the NFL. That is a useful role. The problem is how much he…
The Bears went with Hester as their #1 receiver as an experiment and ultimately Lovie Smith was never willing to admit that it failed from day 1. He simply wasn't a good #1 receiver. A few years later they moved him to the slot but a full time "conventional" slot receiver he is not (eg Welker).
I think that is legitimate. He was also the best at his position over a number of years not just for a 1-2 year stretch.
Sounds like a young Peter King. He probably posts about his "keg-nerdness" and experiences at the student union.
Not only that but based on friends who have done Ironman sanctioned events, they sell out.
