The Wilder film is one of my favorite movies of all time.

I think the “adaptation of the old Zahn books but with the Filoni characters” is the Filoni-directed movie we are working towards. I suspect the Ahsoka series will be a lot of table setting.

It’s giving off peak “superhero origin movie” vibes, but for Willy Wonka. 

It’s hard to overstate how much of an impact the Heir to the Empire trilogy had on my love for Star Wars, so any sort of adaptation of them would make me a happy wookie. But they’re going to have to come up with a really good reason why people are referring to Thrawn as though he’s a cheat code for winning the Galaxy…

I tried to read the first book over 30 years ago when it came out in paperback, and even to my then-postadolescent brain it just felt like the most generic, cliched Fantasy Saga™ imaginable, like someone had taken their awesome D&D campaign from middle school and adapted it into a novel.

It’s weird that they are making a movie where the hero is one of the world’s most prolific child murderers. 

Having never read the books, I can offer no opinion on the quality of the adaptation — except to acknowledge that, given how long the series is, it was always going to have to make big changes in order to have any chance at all of reaching a conclusion. There’s something deeply hilarious about “UN FILM DE DENNIS HOPPER”. 

That sounds pretty perfect for a sleep-deprived, overworked, 22 year old, me.

Sadly, I feel this is just one more step in publishers justifying spending little to nothing on unknown/lesser known authors by hoping social media makes a book go “viral.”  It also lets publishers feel they can blame the author for not working the social hard enough.
