Yeah a lot of people have not caught on that Quantumania making 480 million is actually totally fine for Disney because the Antman franchise is not a tentpole of marvel. did they want it to make more? sure but the budget was right in line with the other films in the trilogy and it made similar amounts of money.

i think people are just kind of tired of superhero movies in general. And the actors don’t give off the fun-loving group vibe of Downey, Evans, Hemsworth, Johannson, etc. I think fans were invested in that franchise because they’d been together for dozens of years and films. DCEU keeps looking for that chemistry, but

I was wondering what might have caused such a low box office too. I really would be surprised if general audiences are even that aware of Miller’s exploits, so it does just seem like WB did so much damage to the DC brand by making so many mediocre-to-terrible films that people aren’t willing to give things a go any

Several people i know were REALLY pumped when word first came out that Keaton was coming back. Ezra’s schenangans were high on the list for them waiting for streaming, along with the bad marketing.

It’s funny how big of a deal it is when an MCU movie “only” makes 480 million (like Quantumania). DC would kill for that.

Dear movie companies, when you have a star that’s a terrible human being, no amount of “cover” or distractions from nostalgia can prevent the gen audience from reacting.

Well, shit. I had no idea that Campbell’s views and books have begun to be seen as less than scholarly or not as well-researched as they ought. I remember watching The Power of Myth and being fascinated at how so many cultures seemed to have such similar elements to their stories, and he seemed quite knowledgeable. Whe

But subsequent movies and shows have demonstrated that there were lots of Force users roaming the galaxy before, during, and after the events of the OT, so the notion of a “balance” seems to be more metaphorical than a literal number of Jedi and Sith.

There are different types of guns on set. If there is a gun that can fire ammunition being used, then that particular weapon (or set of weapons) are only used in the scene(s) were a weapon discharge is called for in the script. For those instances, the armorer has to check the weapon to insure that it will operate

“Prop gun” is, unfortunately, a term that includes both actual firearms and non-functioning replicas. I’m assuming you mean the latter.

The ideal number of people who should in the course of producing disposable entertainment is zero hth

Where would the contradiction be? Lax regulations lead to dangerous situations, injuries and even deaths, this is obvious and proven by evidence as well. One of the reasons Clint Eastwood got out of spaghetti westerns was allegedly because of how damn dangerous shooting those movies was, due to the laxness Italian

Sure, a bunch of dead people don’t mean anything, just like a smoking, glowing nuclear reactor with firemen and other workers dropping like flies around it doesn’t mean anything either.

Agreed, and I’m well aware of Lucas’ various points of inspiration. I devoured every documentary or book behind the OT production, and in particular, I loved reading “The Secret History of Star Wars” by Michael Kaminski. His mainly factual analysis strongly highlighted the differences in how both trilogies were made,

the movies never recast any of the supporting characters unless the actors died”

I will buy physical media until it no longer exists.  When it comes to movies and tv shows, I want to own what I purchase.

I remember that article! I wonder if Lucas ever read that stuff and said to himself, “Y’know, I just might use that idea!”?

100% agree. This right here. It’s scary thinking about how everything is digital these days. Too easy now to make things not exist with no recourse.

It’s a tube of toothpaste, and the ocean treated it as such.

Oh, so that’s where National Treasure 2 got that idea. I’ve seen Jewel of the Nile, I don’t remember anything from it. In fact, as of 5 minutes ago, I thought Omar Shariff was the romantic villain. To my defense, the character is called Omar and Shariff was an absolute cad in real life, so it was an easy mistake.
