No argument from me on that one. I really enjoy tinkering and problem solving, so my tolerance for such things is noticeably higher than normal.

If you have a factory shop manual, a second car, and a decent garage space that you can tie up for a while then he’s pretty much right that you can fix anything on your own. It’s up to you to make the determination on whether or not it’s worth it to you.

One of our members dropped the entire drivetrain from a snowmobile into an old car that he bought from the team. Apparently it was just a bit too nuts, but a lot of fun in the moment. He worked for Polaris, which helped a lot in that particular project.

Dragging the car out of the woods was half the fun. Hosing it down after a muddy day of running was another third of the fun, and the grill we made out of one of the really old cars was the rest. Building and driving it was pretty great as well. Right now, 5+ years out of school I’m now enjoying helping organize one

This reminds me of my time in Baja SAE, except with actual horsepower. The 8.5 crank HP we had (maybe 6-7 to the wheels) did not stop us from rolling that thing more times than I can remember. I can’t imagine this one, except that I’d think it would be insanely fun when not inverted. So. Much. Want.

That has to make going through airport security super fun.

Interesting would be the term to describe that. I’d imagine the clutch was in excellent shape.

Fair enough. I was just poking a little fun, this is Jalopnik after all. In all fairness there are a few types of vehicles I enjoy that I wouldn’t want in manual, primarily big sedans and trucks used for towing.

I got a few minutes in to the video, then realized that the Fiesta has the same suspension as my Mazda 2. Thus, I don’t just want a rally suspension, I want that EXACT rally suspension. This is not a good thing to know, for my debt level anyway.

Why would you put a 4AGE in a Mini. So many better choices. I’ve got one in the back of my MR2 and, while not a bad motor, there are many engines that would go in its place if not for funds/CARB.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with a tiny electric trials bike. Off-road riding is a completely different animal to street riding. Motorcycles are as safe as you make them, and good riding can make up for all the inattentive idiots like you on the road.

My friend’s father has a cabin out there, specifically to unplug. He didn’t even install a phone line. He did this so that his work would only contact him if it was important enough to drive out to get him. It’s worked out pretty well so far.

I saw one about a month ago in Costa Mesa. It was very exciting, for literally just me.
